Montreal Cops Could Be Charged In Alouettes' Arrest

Your opinion is absolute proof. Something tells me your either in the wrong place at times or have a reason for an attraction to police officers. Just my guess but no proof right.

You never know LOL.

In March 2005, the CBC announced that they had obtained documents via the Access to Information Act showing that between 1998 and 2005 Toronto had spent $30,633,303.63 settling lawsuits against police. Norm Gardner said the settlement costs, which amount to about $5-million a year over six years, were expected, given the number of confrontations police face, suggesting that "people think they are going to get paid off."

I would have to say it is somewhere in the middle of these two opinions

I have no criminal record. They have no reason to bother me, or kill people who don’t deserve it.

do you have any idea how many police officers there are in this country. I dont, but I wager thousands. Certainly many hundreds. Yet we only hear about the few dozen that do wrong, and you call that proof.

The killing at the Vancouver airport was considered an accident was it not. Did the RCMP go directly to this poor fellow and say hey thats kill him. Be serious. Again I would have to question why you have such a hate on for police officers.
Ro you better hope that if you ever need one you do not get the jerk one.

of course there are bad cops, but as soon as anyone says most, they lose all credibility.

There are also a lot of well meaning but incompetant cops, but thats not the cops fault. That the fault of inability to get enough quality cops though decent pay etc, along with such affermative actions that result in hiring of too many small women and small minorities who are not cabable of handling most situations without resorting to lethal weapons.

Having said that, I note that almost all the officers at vancouver airport looked beefy enough to me, but I guess they are all being taught now to act like they are all shrimps or something.

Most cops, regardless of capability, are very well meaning people who want to do their job the best they can with complete respect for the law. At least they start out that way.

False Arrest
An example of this doctrine being tested is Sorrell v. McGuigan (4th Cir. 2002). A police officer detained the plaintiff based on the description of a suspect who had committed a robbery nearby, and proceeded to do a simple search for weapons. The witness who reported the robbery arrived at the scene and stated the plaintiff was the wrong person. However, the officer still arrested the plaintiff for possession of a concealed weapon, a 3" folding knife. In Maryland, non-automatic folding knives are not considered weapons under state law regardless of their length, and the lack of length limit had been upheld multiple times in the state supreme court. However, the officer erroneously believed the knife to be a weapon. The plaintiff was never prosecuted as there was technically no crime, and sued the police officer for false arrest. The officer’s qualified immunity was denied by the court, and this decision was upheld in the US Court of Appeals.

There are a lot of good officers, most of them think they can do whatever they want, and will push and bend the rules as much as possible whenever they choose, i’ve seen it happen, and i’ve read many stories about it. I’m finding more and more. Give me a bit.

LOL cops are human beings. They do make mistakes thats why they have internal investigations. If there is wrong doing such in this case then there is consequences. Does this mean all cops are corrupt across Canada. LOL
Jerks and corruption are not reserved for just police officers you can find them in any job. Remember stupidity does not take a holiday! LOL
I remember one year in Montana I was at a bar during the Mt St Helens eruption and a long haired guy came running in from the street with two state troopers chasing him. The clubbed him a few times with night sticks I said to them what did he do steal a chocolate bar. Well I got a stick in the mouth. Was I angry heck no I deserved it. I should have minded my own business. Apparently the guy they caught attacked and tried to rape a woman and spat on the officers. So in my opinion the night sticks should have been put a way and they should have used rubber hoses leaves no marks. LOL.

this officer was just trying to do his job and guilty of no more than perhaps being mistaken about if the knife qualified as illegal.

No, freedom of speech. Thats against the law, you can say anything you want to an officer as long as its not a threat, or harassing. IF he stole just a chocolate bar tho who knows what else he stole tho, in that case they did their job.

Wrong you can not interfere with them doing their duty and I did that. I was lucky not to be arrested myself.

I call it a draw. By the way I now can see why your a cop magnet.

I did not realized you got in their way. I thought u said something as they passed by. Somethin I wouldn’t do anyways. I don’t mouth off officers. When i was wrongfully arrested they apologized to me after because they were wrong. I did nothing wrong.
