Well friends, here we are. Welcome to Week 21.

There’s still a lot to be figured out as we enter the final week of the regular season, including a crucial playoff determination.

With regards to Calgary and their QB situation, bear in mind that Vernon Adams Jr. is going to be available. A proven commodity, he could bring the Stamps our of the doldrums and most certainly put fans in the stands.

Is it possible that BC keeps VA, and trades Rourke?

Top storyline is Dave’s last game as a coach in this league :partying_face::partying_face:

I’ve seen this around a few sites in the past couple of days. I have to wonder if they give it any thought. Especially with other players coming out and saying that this is VA’s team.

They can’t keep em both.

Some sort of contract restructure if they try to keep both of them. Its not unheard of.

That would be bad for the league. It’s not like there is a glut of quality starting QB’s and guys like Harris, Collaros and Mitchell aren’t getting any younger. If necessary the league should do all they can so that one of the two resides elsewhere, such as Calgary.

Won’t be long before Davis Alexander is ready to “Dru Brown” it out of Montreal. Happy to welcome DA to Wpg anytime…

If Lions decided to keep Vernon, I have to think Rourke would demand a trade. Just from body language, he doesn’t seem to be happy atm. The league wouldn’t need to do anything and to be honest CFL HQ sitting on their hands is what they are good at doing

I think the league can’t do anything except enforce the salary cap. This farce of side hustle money has to go. There is no way the Lions or any other team can afford to pay #1 money to two QB’s under the cap, at least not without decimating the rest of their team.

I’m willing to study the marketing money situation for a little while longer. Toronto sold over 20k tickets for a regular season game for the first time in years. Obviously I also have a BC bias. At some point they could put a cap on the marketing money instead of getting rid of it. If the CFL can keep signing former American Spring league players like they did in Calgary (P.J. Walker) it’ll also help keep their talent level down.

I just think it’s stupid not to have any ceiling on it. Lots of abuse possible. And why not just increase the cap instead?

I Would think the League have to go thru the Union to change the 7 year CBA.
Good luck with that
Apparently the CBA can be re-opened when the TSN broadcast agreement expires in 2027

I think the CBA was rushed. There was a lock out and both parties probably wanted to get the season started. It was a couple of years removed from the lost 2020 season so I understand why the owners wouldn’t want to anger the fans. I think both sides should be working on it during the off-season but I can understand why the players wouldn’t want to do so. Usually when the pendulum swings too far on the side of the workers (players) the next CBA becomes a little more contentious.

Who woulda thunk it? A few weeks ago, it was pre-ordained that VAJ would be on the auction block a few hours after the Grey Cup concludes. Now, not so certain. If VAJ leads his current team to a Grey Cup berth and somehow manages to eke out a victory over superior Montreal or Toronto forces, he’s a hero - very hard to dispatch him, for money and/or draft picks.

#2 - if the Bombers somehow manage to get themselves punked against Al’s B-team I suspect most folks will give them little to no chance vs. BC in the Western semi. That might be music to Mike O’Shea’s ears - being total underdogs - AT HOME.

If everyone is writing off the Bombers at home vs. BC they could very well pull off a stunning upset and head into Regina the week after as even deeper underdogs.

This makes the CFL great.

Rather than “everyone”, virtually “no one” other than yourself are writing off the Bombers this week or in the playoffs. Again, no guarantee they will win but the vast majority of informed fans, computer simulation models and most importantly the oddsmakers are picking the Bombers to win this week and thereafter host the Western Final. They will also be favoured in their first playoff game. If you have information that no one else has we would love to hear it and if you do I would highly recommend you bet the house against the Bombers. I would suggest you put your entire retirement fund on the line given your apparent level of confidence.
