Fee reportedly 325 million. For this they will be joining in the 2021 season, 1 year earlier than teams #28 and 29 St. Louis and Sacramento respectively.
This rounds off the 'official' expansion process though going to 32 is not off the table.
If theyâre not expanding beyond 30 anytime soon, I donât see any teams folding.
What I can see once the fees are paid out, the lower revenue teams playing in older stadiums or ones they donât control will have a harder time keeping up revenue-wise with the pack.
This with other prospective owners (Vegas, Phoenix, Indy, San Diego) still interested now gives some leverage trying to âimproveâ those situations. Selling one team for relocation at a time keeps the price high without dividing revenues into further slices too.
With my Monday - Friday 10 - 6 work sked I find Saturday games to be the most convenient. Apparently somebody else likes Saturday too as the TFC home sked is loaded with Saturday games mostly late afternoon/evening start times.
Here TFCâs BMO Field MLS schedule for 2020.
Saturday March 7th - Home opener v New York City FC at 5:00PM
Saturday March 14th - Home to Nashville at 4:00PM
Saturday April 11th - versus NY Red Bulls at 7:30PM
Saturday April 18th - versus LA Galaxy at 2:00PM
Wednesday April 29th - versus New England at 8:00PM
Saturday May 2nd - versus Vancouver at 3:00PM
Saturday May 16th - versus Cincinnati at 5:30PM
Saturday May 30th - versus Miami at 6:00PM
Saturday June 13th - versus Montreal at 7:30PM
Wednesday June 17th - versus Chicago at 8:00PM
Saturday June 27th - versus Real Salt Lake at 8:00PM
Saturday July 18th - versus Seattle at 7:00PM
Saturday July 25th - versus DC United at 7:30PM
Saturday August 8th - versus Columbus at 7:30PM
Saturday August 15th - versus Philly at 6:00PM
Saturday September 12th - versus Atlanta at 7:30PM
Saturday September 26th- versus Orlando at 7:00PM
Ideal for me for the 4-5 games Iâll likely go to.
"Orlando City returns to the field nearly four months to the day since the suspension of the 2020 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, set to take on its neighbors to the south, expansion side Inter Miami CF.
The matchup will serve as the first between the two clubs, as well as the kickoff to the MLS is Back Tournament and the leagueâs return to play following the season suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The match will kick off at 8 p.m. ET at ESPN Wide World of Sports in neighboring Lake Buena Vista, Fla. and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, TSN and TVA Sports..."
I just hope things turn around for this tournament because itâs off to a rough start. Dallas is already out and things arenât looking good for Nashville.
I know itâs going to be really difficult for any sports league to pull off 100% no infections in the process of coming back but this restart for MLS is worrisome.
Right move. Rumour has it Dallas FC had a going away party that resulted in their COVID-19 cases. Nashville SC had the players wait 90 minutes on a bus for test results which seems really stupid if true.
Hopefully the rest of the tournament goes smoothly and the protocols in place at the ESPN sports complex help keep everyone involved safe and healthy. Also, hopefully all the players/staff from Dallas FC and Nashville SC have full recoveries.
