You’ve made 59 posts on this board under your current identity, and 24 of them have been about Banks, or in threads about Banks (including two threads you started).
The first thread you started about Banks in late September went on for 4 pages and approximately one week. I’d say your point of view was aired and well discussed, and many of the points raised there still apply. While it wasn’t “Banks vs Medlock” it was along the same lines - whether we should have signed him for the money we did.
Banks is already in the conversation as one of the greatest kick returners in CFL history after less than 4 years in the league. He has turned the tide for us many times, including on offence. He has been one of the team’s biggest stars in the past few years. He is among our most durable players despite being the smallest, and on an injury-plagued team that is worth something. He wants to play in the CFL and for Hamilton, which also helps.
Banks started this year strong and tailed off in the second half, like the rest of the team. He had 6 TDs by Labour Day, and only 1 since. It’s not clear (except to coaches) whether that’s largely the result of his surrounding cast, i.e. blockers.
Insights into whether he should have been re-signed back in 2015 would have been more impressive had they been made before his performance started to slip in the second half of 2016. You were not posting under this identity prior to late September. Therefore criticising him now makes it seem like you are piling on during a slump.
If you had to list all the reasons we lost the EDSF, you’d get pretty far down the list before mentioning Banks. He wasn’t spectacular but got positive yardage most times and avoided the sideways/backwards returns that can annoy many of us. He did not score a spectacular TD, but neither did anyone else. He did have a crucial first down carry that set up a TD for us.
Austin also wants to win. He will evaluate Banks - along with all other players - this off-season, in the context of the salary cap and the team’s overall needs. If Austin believes that performance issues or off-field issues are unacceptable, he will make the tough call. If he believes Banks can still perform at a high level, and is still worth the money we are paying him, then he will be back again next year.
This thread is dumb. Nobody knows who was chosen over who in the off season.. but we do know that Medlock didn't just up and leave Hamilton.. given the option I'm sure he would have stayed considering the only other suitor for him was Winnipeg and going into this season they looked to be one of the worst teams in the league.
I'm not so sure Banks is worth the money anymore. He's one of our highest paid players, and this year was a total sideshow. Missing training camp, and then getting suspended for 2 games when we needed him most. Teams have unfortunately figured him out. Force him to the sidelines as he will never look to break tackles or initiate contact. Compare him to Rainey or McDuffie.. both of those guys are just as good returners as Speedy, but also bring stuff to the table on offense as well.
“Banks vs. medlock” have been discussed 5 times site the posts"
How about cutting and pasting into the search function and find them…there have been at least 5 that I found that relate to “Banks vs…” or “Medlock vs.” which you can extrapolate from…or are you too lazy to find them yourself?
Well, I guess you are since you missed them the first time(s)…
I don't know who this Obrigardo dude is but he is very rude & insulting to anyone who disagrees with him. If/when he tries to dump on me, may I remind him that this Little Old Lady probably has forgotten more about the T-Cats than he'll ever know.
I’m sorry you feel that way but banks vs medlock is a decision the sports writers have to make it was a relevant question if you check my posts you will see I have also defended banks on this site
