McPherson Lighting Up Arena League

He'll be back in the CFL. Heck maybe in Montreal again. I see Ottawa or Winnipeg in his future.

Although the Storm lost and the game was low scoring McPherson still had a decent game keeping his balanced attack with 2 passing TDs and two running. He was injured in the 4th qtr but no word on how serious so far.
McPherson is still among the leading QBs in the AFL with over 1,000 yards passing and is the leagues leading rusher and leads in rushing TDs. I think that so far he hav proven that yes he can still play and any CFL team who chooses to sign who is in need of a starting QB he certainly should at least be given a chance to compete for a job.
For some reason people are down because McPherson tends to run more then some other QBs. I do not know when having a double threat QB in the CFL became a bad thing.
The Baltimore Stallions/Montreal Alouettes started there eastern Dynasty with Tracy Ham one of the best dual threat QBs in the CFL at the time.

Well then now that he’s hurt well after he showed all that he can do, I hope he just sits out the rest of the season and gets back into top shape for a comeback to the CFL!

Winnipeg is a lost cause in this regard too, so I wonder how long before Hamilton comes knocking given Burris’ age and diminished capabilities overall despite fine passing stats?

Winnipeg just does not seem interested in a veteran back up such as McPherson or even Glenn who could manage a lot of that talent at the skill positions on Offense. They are looking to groom a younger QB. They released the two they were grooming in Elliot and Brink and the new Regime is looking to elevate 4th stringer Goltz who has been around for the better part of 3 seasons and also new new ones as wel know in Max Hall who has some NFL starts under his belt and Chase Clement who spent the last three season starting in the UFL with Jim Fassel as his mentor.
They know what Glenn can bring so they may not be interested but McPherson is in a unique situation 5 years as the top back up to the all time leading passer but has been over looked and thought not to have what it takes to be a starter.
Potential to be an old school CFL double threat QB. Would love to see that come back to the CFL. The league seems to have gotten away from that where every team wants to have an Anthony Calivillo QB standing in the pocket.
What happen to the old roll out. Naked bootlegs. Doug Flutie, JC Watts, Condrege Holloway, Tracy Ham, and Turner Gills short stint

With Mack and Bucko... its all about the NFL... If you haven't been to the BIG SHOW... then forget about it.. All these guys ever do is talk about the NFL.

What makes Edm’s situation any better? Reilly? He may be promising, but hasn’t proven anything yet. Joseph? Come on, I’d take Buck every day over him.
Winnipeg is not the only team that passed up on McP, that should tel you something.

It was McPherson who decided leave Montreal as he saw he was not going to play. If he needed to go to another league to get playing time thats what he had to do. He will still be a free agent next year and if no team decides that he is worthy of at least competing for a starting job than he will have to make some career decisions.
So far though he is doing what he intended and that was to get a lot of playing time and show that at least he can still play QB and he is not washed up and finished just becaus a 40 yr old freak of nature never gets hurt

Their QB situation is similar but Hervey is in year one of his rebuild. Mack is starting his fourth season. I don’t remember anyone judging Mack and the Bombers the year after he took over from Kelly, a similar situation to Hervey picking up the pieces from Tillman. You would expect after 3 years that the Bombers would be competing for top honors.

The Bombers rolled the dice on Buck Pierce and they lost. Had a great D in 2011. Last year rookie of the year plus another 1,000 yard receiver along with Chad Simpson who is a straight up stud RB.

In the last two games McPherson's success is not one of just Arena Football but as a leadership role as the Storm QB he is in charge when when the offense hits the field and is firing the ball to receivers and running when the oppuritunity presents itself similar to what you would see a CFL QB do when a running lane opens in the Middle and hits the lane to pick up a first down and of course is gold in short yardage goaline situation with the QB sneak.

Since upsetting the spokane Shock in Spokane with the leagues leading passer and former NFL bubble and NFLE starter Erik Meyer. Back east to blow out a terrible Voo doo team back to the west where a bad game and loss to San Jose and now back east in PITT for a 4th straight road game beat up on the Power who had another former AL QB Jordan Jefferson benched last week where PITT upset the Philly Soul with a new QB. Tamps returns home to play Philly next week.
Lat week a lot of teams had brought in new players and there were plenty of upsets. This week not to be as the new faces were known and the top teams are sinning and big including Tampa and AD MAC 6 TD passes and one rushing.
Also McPherson's favorite target and the leading receiver in the Arena League, when he left, was back in the line up this week, Joe Hills, after an NFL mini camp Try out
The CFL is beginning to remember why McPherson was such a great prospect was because he mostly used his legs the last 5 years in Montreal as the short Yardage QB that he is really a dual threat QB that can also throw.

yes, McPherson has become genuine dual threat, especially while gaining pro-rep experience with Tampa Storm.

Currently, he is a mere 285 passing yards from top spot in the AFL, yet also the league leading rusher in both yards and TD’s, on pace to break the all-time Arena rushing record with 6 games remaining.

It would not be a surprise if McPherson were to win both the NG MVP and RA Offensive Player of the year awards come
fall.
He is having a splendid season which is likely not lost on the new RedBlacks team. (or other QB imploded CFL team)

After the way the Winnipeg QBs played last night (especially Buck), I wouldn't be surprised if McPherson gets a call from the Bomber organization some time this week.

Someone needs to get fired first.

Week 6-8

Putting all there eggs in the Buck basket again this season is baffling. Where as Hall or Clement could become good CFL QBs it will not happen this season or maybe even next as Hall have really only spent one pro season in football with a few starts and Clement has spent a good protiong of time with Jime Fassel in the UFL put only has played 4 or 5 games in each of those few seasons. Big Diiference when you go to a 18 games scheudule in the CFL or 16 in the NFL,
If it does take to about mid season to bring McPherson in he would have just completed a whole 18 game season already add a half of a season give or take you are looking at 25-30 games almost all in a row as Mcpherson would not sign with anobody this season unless he was going to start right away.
For him it would be better to wait until next season when all the smoke clears and would have a chance to sign somewhere he would at least get a fair chance a a starting spot in a TC battle.

While these are great stats, AFL is different game than the CFL and different from the NFL.

yes the AFL is a different game than the CFL but everyone seems to forget that until evolution of the ALS offense under trestman got to be a straight pocket passer type offense McPherson was the #2 QB behind AC in his first season and was extended to keep him around two more for a total of 5.
So unless Jim Popp got this totally wrong A MAC does have some pretty good Canadian Football abilities and after 5 seasons there he knows all of the ins and outs

After the way they discarded him in the off season. I doubt he even returns their call. Adrian will be in Ottawa or Hamilton next year.

agreed steve.
The AFL is a faster paced game on smaller fields, yet still encompasses players with former (and possibly future) NFL/CFL and NCAA pedigrees.
In fact, the intensely rapid pace of the league may invariably help McPherson as an improved read option QB upon his eventual return to the CFL.

It may indeed do just that as Former MVP Kurt Warner had pointed out when talking about his NFL successes. Ricky Ray also had some Arena Football experience before settling into a Hall of Fame type QB in the CFL having those same traits as Warner in being prolific pro style pocket passer
