Who knew it would be Mathews that would achieve what Collaros, Burris, Glenn, (and throw in Porter, Printers(?) Williams and Maas) couldnt - win a game at Percy Molson.
IF one believes in omens and portents etc. its as good a sign as any.
But we’ll never win anything with a rookie quarterback  I always love to see the stupid looks on the faces of the anti-Ticats, Climie and Stegall, on the post-game recap everytime the 'Cats win a game.
Congratulations Jeff! And to all his critics, I would say 21 of 25 for an 84% completion rate is pretty darn good. Mathews also threaded a few nice passes. Tasker’s catch was a big play. …and we WON(for the first time in MTL in ages. What more does Mathews have to do? He won the top performer award last week for goodness sake. I think he has a stronger arm and is more accurate than Collaros. With the right play calling, I’m very optimistic about our chances.
Collaros goes down and the backup steps in the team doesn't miss a beat. Toronto was the same, Ray goes down and Harris steps in and they don't miss a beat. Look at what happened in Sak with Durant, they were 8 - 1 last year when he went down and they've struggled without him. Montreal, Winnipeg, BC all struggling with to find a QB.
I was really impressed with Mathews. For his third start, his composure was excellent. He didn’t try and force plays and his accuracy was spot on. He has a great arm and definitely gives us a shot at winning the Grey Cup. It would be amazing to win all 3 games remaining and solidify an Eastern Final home game.
To his credit, on a clip that I saw on TSN (probably was on post-game too) Stegall DID admit that he was wrong about Mathews and Climie agreed with him. Of course it is part of their job to make all arguments as part of the analysis but at least they did reverse their opinions when faced with actual performances by Mathews.
The team better get somebody real good to cover Jeff blind side or he;l be on the sidelines with Zach real soon. Don't think the other teams weren't watching and are going defend against him the same way. :cowboy:
Man oh man wouldn’t Brian Simmons look good back in Black “n” Gold right about now. The Eskimos aren’t even using him since he was traded to Edmonton. Simmons has been a constant game day scratch and is currently stuck behind starting LT Tony Washington on the EE’s depth chart. I wonder what it would take to pry him off the Eskimos and somehow reacquire his services back here in the Hammer ? Hindsight being 20/20 Austin hasn’t made very many blunders in rebuilding this team from top to bottom but one that I think he would like to have back was the trading of our best O-Lineman from last season Brian Simmons because it’s rather apparent that Figs is injury prone, unfortunately Olson was lost for the season and the 2 Bomber retreads(Howard,Dile) we have right now on the roster are ex-Bombers for a reason, and neither are even close to the caliber of the dearly departed Simmons.
No blind side QB hits with CJ in, and Jeff is NAILS :cowboy: :rockin: :cowboy:
oh and NEVER should have traded B. Simmons he lived and breathed TiCat Football
