Manziel Out of Luck

They played today and lost to Salt Lake. NFL network is replaying the game right now. Johnny’s probably watching… or making reservations to Memphis.

yeah… I don’t think so

Actually he has lit twitter up… the news on the AAF twitter site has over 8000 likes already and 2500 retweets and that is just one site. Go to AAF.COM and look how the AAF is playing this up. One thing I bet would be hard to find… Johnny Manziel in a CFL uniform.

Even when Manziel was in the CFL

Can Manziel now play in both the AAF and the XFL?

Does his AAF contract prohibit Manziel from playing elsewhere?

Do the schedules of these two new leagues overlap?

Regardless, my bet is that the AAF folds before year two, and Manziel then jumps to the XFL for what would be his very last pro football chance (no offence to the Mexican, Italian, Spanish, and every other “CFL 2.0” internationalfootball league out there…I can’t see Manziel suiting up for you…not enough limelight).

He would have a 3 year AAF contract with the only out is making the NFL.

He could dupe the AAF by wearing the disguise he wore to Vegas when he skipped out on Cleveland Browns team meetings a few years back and snuck over to the XFL. :o

Well … since AAF was going to get to the bottom of what happened in the CFL … either that was all a smokescreen and they really didn’t care … or JM did just “fake” whatever got him kicked out of the CFL … each possibility speaks very poorly of someone.

. . . and so should this one.

I am tired of this celebrity-because-he’s-a-celebrity.

Bobo said it best over in the main forums:

Let’s face it here folks ,this guy is the most over-rated , over hyped , do nothing screw up that pro football has ever seen . Washed out of the NFL , kicked out of the CFL so with nowhere else to turn signs in the AAF with only 4 games to go in the season . What a frigging joke . Talking about circuses I said it right from the start that this clown wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans as a pro . Thanks for proving me right there Johnny .Here’s a thought , has anybody ever considered that maybe , just maybe that this guy just isn’t good enough or just doesn’t have the work ethnic or mechanics to make it in the pros ? Dudes been dining out on a trophy that he won 7 frigging years ago , he’s done absolutely diddly squat ever since .

Personally i don’t, but obviously you do.
An empiricist sifting that dataset would have great difficulty differentiating Johnny ScorchedEarth’s ‘fans’ from reptilian-brained rubber-neckers.
There’s a new kid in town; everybody loves him (don’t they?)…” - the Eagles

Thank you Johnny Ticat slayer

Indeed. Nothing to see here move along.

X2

There is no doubt that a lot of people who watch Johnny Manziel do it because they are hoping to see him crash and burn. That speaks more about them then it does about Manziel.

As far as Johnny’s time in the CFL… He received a lot of outright hate before he ever stepped on the field. There were many who made all kinds negative statements about him for no reason at all. You can find more fake news on these sites than you could ever see on CNN. There were many that predicted he would be a complete failure and many more who hoped he would. Tell me another player coming into the CFL where fans outright wanted him to fail? Also, please tell me what Johnny did in Canada to warrant the negative attitudes and outright slander that was put upon him? Again, that speaks more about some CFL fans than it does about Manziel.

Did Manziel do everything perfect while here? No! But for the most part he was a perfect gentleman and acted with class. You can’t say that about a bunch of CFL fans. I don’t remember him saying negative things about the league or anyone in the league. Was he a failure here? No! He did okay… especially when you consider his two year layoff and the high expectations that were placed on him.

It seems that name calling is one of the top skills of a few people on these forums. I certainly have been called all kinds of names simply because I am a Johnny Manziel fan. Johnny Manziel was a uniquely talented collegiate athlete. A once in a generation football player who attracted attention that others only dream about. I am unashamedly a Manziel fan as far as football goes. I am not a fan of his lifestyle… I don’t consider him any kind of a hero or role model…I disagree with many of the personal decisions he has made… but that doesn’t negate the excitement he can bring to the football field. Maybe he’s done… Maybe he won’t ever rise to his previous greatness… but unlike some of the haters, I don’t wish that on him. I would rather see him rise from the ashes. Maybe that will happen and maybe it won’t… but one thing I know… There will be a lot of people watching Memphis play next week because of Johnny Manziel. His fans want to see him rise to the occasion… the haters want to see him fall on his face (so they can feel better about themselves). Who knows what will happen?.. But tens of thousands will be watching to find out… Love him or hate him… it will be some time before another player comes along that can draw the kind of attention that flows behind Johnny Manziel. It’s too bad the CFL was never able to embrace that attention. Instead, many resented it and hated him for it…but then again, that speaks more about them than it does about Manziel.

If a troubled Canadian kid/athlete on a US based team, was getting even CLOSE to the hate that many CFL fans gave, and are still giving Manziel, the CBC, PM Justine, and all the sports pundits would be trashing Americans.

Funny how when Canadians are jerk fans, not willing to give a 2nd chance, they get on a high moral horse and attempt to justify the anger and near hatred.

Johnny is gone, oh well, a blip in the 100 plus wonderful years of the CFL. So seafiddle your not innocent either when you trash my favorite league.

Many CFL fans made it very personal with Manziel, and I found that embarrassing as a fan of the CFL.

My opinion is that his heart was NEVER in it, in terms of the CFL, thats why he failed. Nothing more, nothing less.

Boo hoo hoo! Some of us were nasty with Manziel and his sycophants. ::slight_smile:

First, I don’t agree that he failed. Tell me about the first year that Mitchell , Riley, or Masoli had in the CFL. When they did play the expectations were low and they never faced any pressure approaching what was on Manziel. As far as the CFL, I have enjoyed watching it and will continue to do so. The disagreement I have (which doesn’t really matter) is the player level in the league. It is far below the NFL and one could argue it isn’t even at the same level as the AAF. Why? Because based on CFL rules the teams must carry Canadians even if they are inferior players. I don’t blame the CFL for doing that because it is Canadian football. But you can’t dimiss the fact that it makes the teams weaker than if they could just take the best players. The resumes of the AAF players are impressive and include many former NFL players who hope to get back to the highest level of football. Even so , the AAF will have to beat past attempts in order to make it. That is still to be determined. But they have already diluted the CFL to some extent and if the AAF is ultimately successful they will have a dramatic impact on the CFL.

Really? Go read Breitbart. comment section and don’t come and tell me most of these posters are Canadians LMAO

He’s the butt of jokes all over the Internet. With the exception of some College fans who have a tough time accepting that is what he is (a Special College QB). The rest of the planet has moved on and frankly, most think he’s a spoiled bum.

Even when Johnny was at his peak in college he had many detractors who constantly belittled him because of his life of privilege. Many people just can’t handle the fact he grew up rich. They also hate the fact that he accomplished what he did while he was a wild partier and never seemed to take things that seriously. What people don’t understand is that his gunslinger attitude was in part what made him the success he was. It also contributed to his downfall. But I would still argue that it was not his playing ability that got him out of the NFL…it was his addictions. There are numerous players currently in the NFL that aren’t as good as he was.

It is a fact that many people don’t like him and consider him a joke… but the fact is Johnny Manziel was all over the news last night and today from The NY Times to the LA times, USA Today and everywhere inbetween so the joke is on all those who think he is irrelevant.

When you win the Heisman, the expectations are far greater than (Reilly Masoli, Mitchell)

When your a 1st round NFL draft pick, the expectations are higher.(than Reilly Masoli, Mitchell)

I wanted as much as anyone for JM to have a very successful CFL career, but he ultimately failed. (and he also failed to live up to his obligations as per the league)

As for the early comment that on “another US site” people are hating, so what, I’m just disgusted with the CFL fans who were spewing the hatred before the guy ever got to play.

All that said, Johnny did fail. I also think he didn’t ever want to be in Montreal, my view is that he figured June Jones would hand him the keys to the Ti-Cats. When that didnt happen he lost interest.

I really hope he does well in the AAF, but its a far lower talent pool than the CFL, so it should be interesting. Im going to PVR the games for sure.

so just curious, where were all the self righteous CFL Canadian fans when Duron Carter was caught with enough drugs in a backpack to be the CFL’s Walter White?

second chances, ?

seems selective to me
