Please go to this site. I want EA to make a CFL video game. I know you want them to too!
I heard that video games need to sell at least 500,000 copies just to break even. I don't expect they'll be making a CFL game anytime soon.
that figure can't be right....most games dont come close to selling 500,000 copies...the BIG games sell 1 million.
if it took 500,000 to break, the gaming industry would be non-existant, OR we'd only see a few games released per year.
Well its that time of year again. time for the annual bug EA to do something that would never make money in a million years petition
As nice as a CFL video game would be I don't see it happening.
And on an unrelated note, anybody else get a laugh at how EA can release the same game every year, just with a roster update, and still get stupid people to buy it over and over?
DG,
actually .. average games sell 1 million copies. John Madden sold almost 2 million in its first week in 06!

GO BOMBERS!!!
I want the NHL 07 game cause I want to be able to use Crosby, Ovechkin and Phanuef...... otherwise, I'm happy with the '06 version.
They do make other changes to the games, it's not totally stagnant besides the rosters.
I would play it too.
741 names in 19 months!
I wonder if EA even knows if this petition exists?
I also wonder if they would take it a bit more seriously if the people who signed it would have learned to write properly first?
I think the only way it would work is for CFL teams to be added to Madden like swedish and austrian leagues are added on to NHL any other way just wouldn't make money
they have made barbie games before, you think that sold 500,000 copies?
They may have, but then again it may also depend on how much they have to pay in licencing fees as well,
I assume the NFL wants more than Barbie!
Whoever said you need a million to make a profit is guessing. NHL doesn't even sell a million, EA rugby which has similar sales numbers, is still produced every year too.
In fact 150,000 copies would be profitable, if a small team did it. Look at EA's Cricket. Usually sells around 150 to 200, and is profitable (or EA wouldn't bother doing it year after year) and it is done by a canadian studio...
I think that 150,000 is a realistic sales number for a CFL game. Maybe not anually, but atleast the first time. I think a suprising number of American's may pick it up on a whim, just to try another football game, if the game received any sort of critical acclaim.
I honestly believe it would be worth the Leagues while to subsidize the development of the game, as a marketing vehicle. If not subsidizing it, atleast garrunteeing a profit to the developer and producer of it. A video game legitimizes the league as a professional sports league. Even Arena football, and paintball have their own video game.
Tom Wright stated that he was in favour of it, but he has been forced out, so we will have to wait and see how progressive the new puppet is.

No kidding, Ea sports could write in the CFL, but they refuse...
Conspiracy or not, give it up EA ..you guys are losing potential buisness..
There is NCAA, NFL, NFL Street, and Rugby, but no CFL. Arena Football sold half a million. CFL at minimum I think can do half that.
I agree Americans could pick it up to try out another football game. That should be good for the league.
There are legions of Americans who are sick of Madden.
If Sega (makers of the superior NFL 2K series) did a game, I’m sure many Americans would buy it. The Sega games were the more beloved of the football series, until EA bought a license to ban anyone else from making an NFL game.
we could take old Football pro 99 Code.
and Fix it for 3 Downs Sierra killed the game years ago
how about petitioning this studio: www.hb-studios.com. They are located in Canada, and not owned by EA, though they do work for EA.
