It looks like Jesse Lumsden's injury may be a chronic one. Same shoulder, same kind of pain, same wincing in pain on the sidelines from our great running back.
This really worries me. He's already missed some games due to this injury and I believe that with a healthy Lumsden, we would have won tonight's game despite Armstead's bonehead play in the end zone.
Jesse has had only a short career thus far, but all of it, college and pro ball has been riddled with injuries.
I hope he gets healthy soon and if he doesn't respond to treatment in the next few weeks, I would save him for next year.
Team physician, Dr. Levy should recommend Lumsden sitting until a time when his shoulder is 100% ready to go. He's got to heal and be ready for next year. i think the Cats should be careful how they use Lumsden. He's 6'2, 225 lbs, which means there is more body to get bend or twisted leading to injury. Try running him outside more and where was the screen passes to Lumsden tonight? Running him up the middle too much is asking for trouble. Guys that are built lower to the ground like Troy Davis and Robert Edwards don't seem to get the same type of injuries a taller leaner back gets like a Lumsden. I seem to remember taller backs like Robert Drummond and Millington as injury prone. But man do I like to watch Lumsen run.
good call, i say let him rest. At 2-11.we have to be ready for next year and with a healthy Lumsden, Printers, and with the defence, the way their playing. We will definately be a contender.
It appears that we're all on the same wave length here.
Get Jesse into perfect physical condition even at the risk of losing him for the balance of this season.
If Jesse can enter the 2008 season in good health he'd be much more valuable to the team. At the moment, he's playing in pain which is no longer necessary. Rest him, treat his injury and get him ready for a big year in 08.
Most of the info I found on the net regarding Jessie's injury is he came back to soon only to easily re-injure his collar bone again. I agree he must sit out the rest of the year to heal.
some info from one of the websites
How long will the effects of the injury last?
To some extent, the time to fully recover is influenced by your dedication to your rehabilitation program. A child may heal as quickly as 3 to 4 weeks, while an adolescent may take 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Adult athletes who have stopped growing may require 8 to 10 weeks of healing time before returning to their sport.
I agree with synthcat above. The Ti-cats should be more carefull how they use Jesse. He has no problem trying to run over people, hitting them head on with his shoulder.Maybe they need to get somebody to work with him trying more to avoid getting hit head on.He may even be harder to bring down because he would be hard to bring down with an arm tackle. He is shifty enough that with a straight arm he may even do better than he is now.Give the ball to Julien for those tough yards up the middle and maybe we will have Jesse for the whole season.
