Louie Richardson Signs With Bombers

Somehow I must have missed that LB Louie Richardson was a FA. Perhaps he was on the Practice Roster at the end of the season & thus available for the pickings by other teams. Anyways ... this from the Bombers ...

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce today the club has added non-import, and former University of Manitoba Bison defensive lineman/linebacker Louie Richardson. The club has also signed import running back Nic Grigsby.

Richardson (6-4, 220, Manitoba, September 22, 1985, Vancouver, BC) has spent the last two seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, recording seven special teams tackles in 2013. In 2012, his rookie CFL season, Richardson played in two games and recorded three special teams tackles.

That's too bad. Always liked Louie. A real high-motor, high energy type. Relentless/reckless abandon on kick coverage. Your prototypical wedge breaker.

I'm sure going back home, getting a chance to play more with Winnipeg was very enticing. Coach O'Shea will love this kid and Louie will love playing for Mike and he should get a real opportunity to be a special teams demon!

Congrats Louie ... Best wishes in the future.

Huge fumble recovery in key moment of key game vs. MTL in Moncton.

The Bombers got a good one as they continue to add to their Canadian depth. He is becoming the ultimate Coverage teams player so while the Bombers can certainly use some Canadian depth on the D line and Oline still having a strong special teams game can help to win games as well.
The one spot on defense that they were able to create Canadian depth was at safety and they did with signing Newman who also great on teams and looking for PT at Safety as well. Don't overlook youngster Sheman Teague as well as he will look to cut his teeth with teams as well as develop as a safety. Muamba will have a ton of competition as the Bombers also added Bucknor so Muambe could finally break out and live up to the expectations or he could find himself out of a job.

In the return game they could go a couple of ways with import specialist Aaron woods but that would take a DI spot.
Return by comittee with Ford on Kick Offs and finally just allow Demond Washington now entering his third season start at HB and return punts.
