Local Canadian QB to start NCAA bowl game

Bowling Green vs South Alabama in the Camellia Bowl tonight on ESPN and TSN3
South Alabama's starting Quarter Back Brandon Bridge is a Mississauga native
Bridge is listed at 6'5 235lbs and drawing interest from NFL scouts (probably as a WR)
He has also participated in the Manning Passing Academy
Strange that he is not listed on the CFL Scouting Bureau list..

Here is game footage of Bridge throwing for 339 yards and 3 scores vs Appalachian

The second article in your Post pretty much lays out why the CFL Scouts don't list him. Several key points relative to the NFL:
Scouts believe he will be drafted mid draft, if this holds he will receive a decent signing bonus and will at least go to the team training camp.
Being selected to play in the NFLPA game means at least one NFL team is interested in him. This game is when the NFL Scouts will really evaluate him.
His interview reflects a very strong desire to go NFL and then CFL if the NFL doesn't work out.
I'm sure the CFL Scouts have been watching him and discussing his future with the NFL Scouts.
Only time will tell.

The 22-year-old, who plays for the University of South Alabama Jaguars, has been pegged as a surefire pro prospect by NFLDraftScout.com. It rates him the sixth-best quarterback among 141 playing in their senior year of NCAA ball.

That is the young man we having been discussing.

(1) Good for him

(2) Don't know that those explain why he isn't listed in the rankings.
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (#1) and David Foucault (#3) were both ranked highly ranked despite interest from the NNFL and their interest in exploring he NFL.

I'll try and explain. The NFLPA game is by "invitation", controlled by NFL teams. This game is watched closely by Scouts from both NFL and CFL. When the game is over scouts compare notes and the NFL GM decides if they want to pursue a specific player in the draft. If there is genuine desire by the NFL there is little reason for the CFL scout to "highlight" the player, it is better to list those players that have a true interest in the CFL and will improve a CFL Team.
There is a lot more "unofficial" discussions between CFL and NFL than published.

I hope it isn't because he plays QB.

Another Canadian QB playing in the NCAA? that's great, never heard about him. I thought that Michael O'connor from Penn state was the only Canadian QB playing in the NCAA.
Potential for two Canadians in the CFL in 4 or 5 years?

Slimjim,
All I can say is

PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS
WE ARE-PENN STATE!

Class of '63

You actually could be right about that, unfortunately. Why waste a draft pick on a Canadian player who doesn’t count as a Canadian player?

You didnt do a good job explaining because the NFLPA is the union that represents the players currently in the NFL. And if it is better to list those players who have "true cfl interest" why is Tyler Varga ranked number 4 when he is expected to be a mid round NFL pick and participating in the 'Reese Senior Bowl' where an NFL coaching staff coaches the team?

6-6. i’m guesin they’ll beef him up and turn him into a TE.

If he was a CIS QB. yes a CFL team would turn him into a TE but he's in the NCAA and one of top QB prospects in the US and recruited as a QB. He had to do his last year of high school in the US to have a shot at playing QB in any league.

sorry i wasnt clear. if he makes it to an NFL team they'd likely turn him into a TE. watched a small highlight reel he's got pretty good moves for a tall white dude

O'Connor has left Penn State
