There seems to be a pervasive sentiment in the U.S. that gridiron football and basketball are of American origin, which is not the case.
Most Americans know that basketball was invented by a Canadian teaching in Massachusetts. Most haven’t got a clue, and won’t even believe, that football (without the forward pass) was introduced to the U.S. from Canada.
I was at a Superbowl party and one of the people there asked me if football is called football in Canada. :lol:
