BC Lions now in control of the CFL West Division in 1st place and they won’t relinquish, watch for the Lions to face the powerhouse Montreal Alouettes in the 2024 Grey Cup game on BC turf.
Sorry but they will only be in first for a day. If Saskatchewan wins tomorrow they will be one point ahead of them and if Winnipeg wins they will be tied and hold the tiebreaker.
It’s too early to start counting chickens for any of those teams though in my opinion.
Wonderful to see Rourke back in the saddle, fierce and taking no prisoners. Still somewhat concerned that the receivers, for most of the game, had difficulty once again finding open spaces. Stanback continues to impress, acting as the backbone to the offence. Betts got stronger as the game went on, contributing to this new-found confidence and excitement on both offence and defence helped of course also by Rourke’s fiery play. TJ Lee played a great game and I hope Phillips keeps this line-up in the future. Tackling, almost comical the last few games, regained its poise. Benevides, despite Williams’ electrifying return, did not have the best game, being caught unawares on a third down fake punt, blowing a time out etc. But that can be fixed. The biggest fix for the team has already taken place with the re-introduction of Rourke and Betts. Falaniko needs a maturity boost. The biggest ailment the last six games has been lack of motivation, discipline and ability to finish plays. My guess is that this team only gets stronger. The Lions needed an emotional and confidence boost. They got it. And what a delight having a game in the sunshine in a beautiful city. That’s the CFL to me. I wish there were more daytime games.
Anyone else love the way Rourke handled the halftime interview? Bother the players and coaches after the game, not when they’re literally still in the middle of it.
Seriously? Because this is the first time in sports history the TV or radio broadcast has ever done an interview at half time, right? Arrogance, anyone?
