Lions @ Stamps

It's a bit shocking that a heater that large does not have a grate/grill over the opening. My shop heater like that but much smaller doesn't have one but the radiant heater I have does.

I will leave the Eskimo Empire; any thing else I’m missing?

Backer, I thought you came to your senses and converted to a Rider fan. Now I learn that you just lost a bet? What gives?

he lost it on purpose

Oh bling! :thdn: I really thought they were going to come back. Oh well, at least they made a game of it and got out with minimal injuries.

I’m confused; What bet did I lose? 41 21 Calgary final

…wow, so much wrong here…

…that is kinda scary…these heaters are used quite often in the construction industry but they have a metal mesh cover to prevent accidents like that from happening, wonder why these don’t have those?..

Yep. The Beagle blew this one. That’s for sure.

This proves why people shouldn’t take it for granted the Lions will win the Grey Cup. All it takes is a couple mistakes and the game is out of reach.

It was I suppose a good scouting opportunity with Reilly for the Lions and they did not need to win so they didn't.

Next week at home indoors they have the discretion to kick back and produce another yawner or perhaps even to kick out the Riders from the playoffs. We'll see.

I anticipate eagerly especially Beagle's prediction. Or "un-prediction" should we say?

I am a season ticket holder, BUT I work out of town (as many of us do). Unfortunately, if I am out of town and unable to find someone else to take my tickets, then my seat is/seats are empty (Together with some friends we have three seats right now. Next year we might purchase two more). Price I pay to enjoy my team when I am in town AND to also make a good living, so I can have the “throw away” money to buy season tickets that might be empty. I think if people were really to look at it, there are a LOT of season ticket holders who are in a similar situation to me.

I would suggest to you that TO has the worst attendance in the league, but that’s just an opinion.

Rough game for BC last night! Looks like they need to practice outdoors a little more. Took them a good quarter and a half to adjust to the conditions.

Certainly nothing is a certainty and no one out here is anointing the Lions 2013 champs, but I don’t think you can equate that effort(?) to anything we’ll see in the playoffs. The team obviously lacked focus with 1st place sewn up a week ago, wanted absolutely no part of the frigid temperatures, and was resting a few key contributors.

Not taking anything from the Stamps though - they executed very well in the cold, were much hungrier and deserved the win, hands down. I think a BC - Calgary match-up in the West Final would be an awesome game!

...here's a situation: do you continue to rest Lulay next week or do you play him, and risk injury, in another mean-nothing game just so rust doesn't appear? with the Lions getting a first round bye, man that would be a lot of time for TL to have sat...

...if I was HC for the Leos I'd probably play Lulay (assuming his injury isn't more serious than they are letting on) for the first half, just to keep him game ready, let Riley play mop-up...

I think they need to play Lulay but only if he’s 100%. There is always that risk of injury but to me going into the Western Final “cold” so to speak may not be smart. Then again with Travis it may not matter. He’s resilient. He’ll be playing to a friendly crowd. He has an excellent D to keep him in the game.

In terms of the game being a mean nothing game you would think that would be the case. Calgary sure didn’t think last night’s game was a mean nothing game even though as far as standings were concerned it was. I think both SSK and the Lions want to establish dominance just case they meet in the Western Final or perhaps even in the Grey Cup depending on how the remaining games play out.

how did the lions clinch the division if they could still tie with the stamps and the stamps having a better divisional record?

There’s another school of thought that says Lulay’s injury may be worse than the club is letting on (as discussed on the Lions’ post-game radio show last night). The tell-tale sign will be on Tuesday at practice. If Lulay isn’t throwing (as he failed to do last week), it’s highly likely that it will be Reilly that gets the call in Week 18 against Saskatchewan. Then with 2 more weeks to rest the shoulder, Lulay could play with some rust or, as some fear, he may be done for the season.

I may be nuts, but I think the stats from last nights game are out of whack! I'm pretty certain that Tim Brown returned a punt for a TD, not a kick-off... and I'm pretty certain Courtney Taylor fumbled a long pass, yet Foster is charged with the fumble. I know these are only a couple of items in a brutal game, but is it really that hard to get the stats right?

One other thing… I know the Lions came out flat and whatever else you want to say, but can we (as Lions fans) finally agree that Dean Valli is a waste of space on that OL. If he is the future at center we need at least 3 Lulay’s to ensure we get through the season based on the beating the QB’s took last night. If Reid is in there, there is no way Calgary gets that many sacks!

They [Calgary] will not have a better divisional record. The Lions could lose their last game of the season and Calgary could win their last game. If that happens they’ll both end up with 24 points. The Lions won the Calgary/BC series 2-1 and therefore are technically ahead of Calgary. Net result? The Lions clinch the division.
