VANCOUVER — Vernon Adams Jr. and the BC Lions put on a show in front of 53,788 fans present at BC Place to commemorate their home opener with a 26-17 win over the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.
those seats were paid for. people might not have stayed for the whole game, but getting thousands of new people to the cfl was worth every penny AD spent on 50 Cent
Sure looks like the Lions will be taking over the attendance records for this year. Great game. Lions gave up no sacks this week but largely due to Adam’s mobility. He’s the best in the league right now.
But Maier had another great game. That bodes well for the Stamps. Should be a very competitive West Division this year.
So glad that you were entertained, by Dave Dickenson, but I really figured the 50 cent Concert would have done that before the kick off.
The Game wasn’t entertaining by itself ? I didn’t get to see the concert, but I really liked the game.
The stamps could have easily won this game.
Two possibly three plays and two of them were on an importune fumble and a dropped long ball.the third was an interception or two.
No team cam play perfect ball for 60 minutes as the Lions also had their own four or five bad plays but were just able to overcome them just tad better
Calgary (spit) most definitely had the opportunity to win this one, played well until the end. Funny (funny strange, not funny HaHa) with about 7 minutes remaining in the 4th Calgary (spit) 3rd and short, could have Punted hopefully leaving BC deep in their own end of field, instead they turned over the ball on a failed attempted for a first downs. I feel it was too early to risk that play…BTW my Calgary (spit) fan brother and his son traveled from Winnipeg to watch this game for farther day.
Congratulations BC for an entertaining game and show (not a big fan of 50 cent) but good for BC for starting the home season game off with a bang.
I am a Hamilton fan, but I have to say that this was a great game to watch on TV and even better for the BC franchise and the CFL- too bad that there are so many negative voices on this site today - maybe just sore losers and bad fans. There was nothing to complain about in this game - both teams played well and could have won. Just great entertainment on a Saturday night!
Last night’s game was very entertaining and like all games, we could have a different outcome if only a few plays had a different result. The early look for the CFL is much more parade overall, let’s hope this continues.
BTW good luck in tonight’s game, sorry I have to cheer on Hamilton, you know “the standings” and all.
Yea I understand why you gotta cheer for the Cats… I don’t think the cats are a pushover this year. On the same token I still think Bo best before date is two years past due.
I HOPE the Riders have much improved
It will be incumbent on the Green getting that run game going that was nonexistent in game one. It was supposed to have been fixed with the off season signing of that great A.J. Ouellette but as we know one man don’t make running game work.
This is what Edmonton needs, an owner who will grab the bull by the horns and do what needs to be done to get the Elks back to respectability. The boards of directors of the past 2 decades have almost destroyed this franchise. What has happened in BC is great for the franchise and the league!
I was involved in the game thread and have read this one. I don’t see the negative voices you do.
Most are agreeing that it was a pretty good football game and no one is trolling the Stamps for losing.
It’s still early but I repeat my observation that so far there appears to be much more parity in the league this year. I’m not sure about parades though.
I think you need to go back to the comments prior to mine - there were a number of what I consider to be negative comments. None of them talked about the game nor the quality of the play. This may not be important to some, but it is to me. For example… at least two comments (prior to mine) questioned the whole idea of the game being a sell out, for no expressed reason other than to complain. Other comments complained about Calgary coach Dickenson in a mean spirited manner that weren’t even about what the article was addressing. Another went on about rather seeing the 50 cent concert, than the game. In fact the same commentor claimed that the “Game"wasn’t entertaining by itself.”
Jon - you may not consider these to be negative comments, but I do! Then again, you don’t explain why you felt the need to challenge my opinion - but at least I can explain my opinion.
I believe all games are shown in some form in the US, whether on cable or CFL+.
The pro of it being on cable is you might catch some channel flippers but I think it’s on a somewhat obscure channel (I wouldn’t know - I’ve never had cable.)
The pro of it being on CFL+ is it’s available to all US residents with internet for free.
This was not a CFL+ game.
