VANCOUVER — The BC Lions are through to the Western Final for the third time in the last four seasons.
Tight game , up for grabs at the end , Lions edged it by the skin of their teeth.
Either side could have won it. The football gods have spoken.
On to the final.
I Guess GOD did not LOVE VA today for some reason - only explanation I have for them losing
stamps defence played a great game, especially second half. stamps left time on the clock and lions made the plays when it counted on that last drive.
VA has all off season to manage 9 seconds.
Lions were lucky to win. The play calling was suspect. Beginning the game with Butler up the middle on first down set the scene. It doesn’t work. It’s rarely worked all year. Then late in the fourth, Lions ran two running plays for little gain when they needed a big gain. Pierce’s play calling is holding Rourke and the receivers back. You see how Alexander threw on first down and how successful the Als were. The Lions don’t have a Grey Cup-class O-line so imagination in play calling is essential. Pierce lacks that imagination. Riders should have an easy game against this offence next week. Rourke deserves better. We deserve better.
Stamps let that one get away. I’d almost feel sorry for Jeffy, if he wasn’t Jeffy.
It’s never easy.
You’re welcome. Stamps would have whooped you, at home, again.
Nope past records tell a far different story between Riders and Cowtown in the play offs.
And what ifs don’t ever count do they.
Not to mention it no guarantee the Green will defeat the Lions by any means.
Uike you who just claimed victory in a game your team will be cleaning out their lockers instead of playing in.
Again claiming victory in a game you won’t be playing says much..
Enjoy the off season knowing the Riders are a better team than the Stamps.
Well, special teams haven’t been that special this year and it probably cost them the game today. What do you do when you’re the gm and your older brother is the special teams coach?
I missed both games today.
On a good note, I won best costume tonight as Mr. Furley.
I feel for Vernon. He left it all out on the field today and IMO was the better QB overall. But BC did just enough extra to win. Kudos to Rourke for a gutsy game-winning field goal drive.
InHufwetrust……..
You cowtown boys make it hard not to dislike you. Ungracious when you win….and ungracious when you lose. While you’re making impossible assumptions about woulda , coulda , shoulda…..please answer me this…..the Redblacks went 4-14 on the season…worst team in the league by a country mile. And yet they swept Calgary 2-0. Our Riders swept them 2-0. Do you wanna add that into your equations?
Stamps played a helluva game tonight , easily could have won. Sometimes sports is unfair , sometimes the better team doesn’t win. Fate,..Karma…whatever.
And………why does Dave Dickenson always look like somebody just kicked his dog?
Vernon did play good but the few mistakes he made were the difference… Along with the special teams giving up a 95 yard kick return
I’d say the teams TD was the big difference.
True that, but again the 3 missing points from the end of the first half is hugely right up there too.
Agreed, but head to head, Vernon actually put up more points than Rourke.
And again the score always has the final say. Rourke in the clutch came through
Vernon had his chances and made a few errors
Sure, but Vernon didn’t get a special teams TD from his own unit.
Anyway, I don’t want to go in circles here. Kudos to Rourke for getting it done.
