Lemon receives additional sanctions for violating CFL/CFLPA drug policy

TORONTO — Under the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the CFL Players’ Association’s joint drug policy, defensive lineman Shawn Lemon has been suspended for two games after testing positive for the banned substance Phentermine. The suspension comes after Lemon’s appeal was denied.

But , but , but it was his first and only time he has ever done this . No different than the silly gambling thing , I mean he only did it a couple times and a couple of times only . It’s obviously just another blatant example how the league keeps picking on him for no good reason whatsoever .

I wonder if he visits massage therapists as well? He could be in line for the trifecta of sins.

This is more related to Lemon’s gambling, but MLB just fired and banned for life an umpire that didn’t even bet on games. Instead he allowed a friend access to his gambling account and that friend bet on games. Stupid, stupid. As far as I know he didn’t argue that there wasn’t a specific rule against what he did posted on the umpire’s dressing room door.

Coupled with being caught using PED’s hopefully we can put to rest the misguided homer notion that Lemon deserves to be reinstated.

For what it is worth and off the topic of this thread :

“Hoberg, who can apply for reinstatement in spring training 2026 at the earliest”

Yes and so could Pete Rose and he did. That’s pretty common even with lifetime or indefinite bans and I have acknowledged that previously. However, I would think that Lemon deserves at least one more year off before being able to apply and given his age amd now the PED thing, that should be all for his career. And what Lemon did was worse than what the umpire did as he actually bet himself and also on a game his team played in.

It isn’t a silly gambling thing!? it’s WRONG to be gambling on CFL games when you’re an active player in the league. No excuses, no exemptions.

they are not picking on him, he broke the rules. where’s the argument?

I read that post as sarcastic in nature, including when he inserted that statement. Overwhelmingly most of us have been in agreement on this matter.
