It is possible that it may just be pro forma (i.e., what he has to say) but I suspect it is sincere ... they were clearly ready to lose money for a couple/few years and it is possible that "no season" might even be financially advantageous
We'll see. I hope he's right!
And now this!
Let's face it, there won't be a season. There won't be much of anything except wearing masks and showering with Purell for the next 6-12 months.
I like your entousiam Johnny
Apparently, the other teams and the CFL "gave" the Als close to 6 million last year:

The other teams each provided the CFL approximately $657,000 to cover the Als in 2019.
Great interview here with Al's owner
Gary Stern: "We're 100% going into Plan A with fans in the stands in 2021, let's go. Plan B says we're absolutely playing football next year. If it needs to be a hub, we have all this time to put it in place."
"I'm being told we can (make money without fans in the stands), therefore I'm saying we can."
"Revenue can come from sponsorship, can come from TV, can come from many diff. sources so expenses are in line w/ the revenue. That yes we're going to lose some $ but every team can know it & be prepared.."
Kind of odd thing to say…“I am being told we can make money without fans in the stands therefore I’m saying we can.” Kind of removes him from the equation.
