naturally.

nobody wants the last 3 minutes of a game to change. this is the best thing about football is that a team has a chance to win if they can.

all the people currently with the CFL who matter, that communicate with us every week all say the same thing that they don’t want the final 3 minutes of a game to change with the rule changes.

Again, either you don’t know how they work or you are intentionally spreading misinformation. Joey and Crash just explained to you for about the 10th time that under the new rules there would have been more time left on the clock last night. There could have been even more excitement.

And I had no intention of treating you like a child, but now that you mention it, you sometimes act like one. Your obstinance in spreading misinformation regarding the timing rules grows tiresome. We know enough about the timing rules based on the NFL. As you said you don’t watch NFL I’m not sure how you could even have an informed opinion on the subject. And change = bad, status quo= always good isn’t a reasoned position.

Unless there is something new in any rule change thread I’m not going to continue to engage with you as you try and get everyone to do. Respond all you want, I won’t. Just so you know there have been several complaints about your repetitive posting and it’s starting to look like trolling. You have been ignored by numerous members over the last few days so you’re shrinking your audience. My suggestion is that you take a breather from your 20 or more posts a day all saying the same things snd reminding everyone how angry you are about all of this. We all got it long ago and now it looks like trolling.

There are many that want some more even and fair timing rules to the rest of the game.

Here’s some feedback, when you use words like everyone, nobody, always, never, etc. you’re normally wrong.

And yet you insist on commenting on it incessantly…

They didn’t tell me how there’d be more time left. They just said there would be. So anyone please explain HOW there’d be more time left??

I’m only talking about the last 3 minutes.

Ok those who are on TSN or write articles have said that they don’t want to see the last 3 minutes change. Madani, Suitor, Ford, Sanchez, Stegall, Muambi , (however it’s spelt) etc etc

I agree with the other 54 minutes but last 3 of each half should still work as they do now with the 35 seconds included.

And so am I. There are many that feel the last 3 mins are manufactured drama. Like the NBA which “everyone” makes fun of.

I don’t care really what they think, the majority of fans love the last 3 minute rules, either they hate that a lead can change multiple times near the end of the game when it matters or they’re CFL haters that give the league zero respect. The last 3 minutes keeps people tuned in and watching rather than shutting off the TV because all you need to do is kneel down 4 times in 2 minutes and walk off the field with 40 seconds to go. Ooh what fun!?!? (Sarcasm). Who the hell wants to watch a team kneel 3 times and run 80 seconds off the clock and then the last 40 start shaking hands.. tall about anti climatic. That’s what’s wrong with football that the offense can waste the last 2 mins of a game by kneeling. Imo very stupid and many people agree.

Who the hell wants to watch a team win a game by missing a FG and getting a point? Talk about anti climatic. Imo very stupid and many people agree.

Door swings both ways my friend.

That’s rare. How many times has it happened in the past 2 seasons. You’re trying to justify your pov by using 2 times in the past 3 seasons.

Same argument could be used for every missed FG. Point is simple. What some find boring and anti climatic, others find strategic. The use of time outs is very important in the NFL as they’re used as a currency.

Some like it, some insult it. You dont watch the NFL so you should probably not comment.

I don’t watch NFL because they have many dumb rules in my opinion. I grew up with CFL OR Canadian rules, I played with Canadian rules, I learned everything about this game.

Why would I watch a sport that is not in Canada, not using Canadian rules, absolutely zero relationship with its players or teams?

I support and defend the CFL and want it to survive but not by using drastic changes to appease people who won’t watch it unless they make it closer to the American game.

If people want to watch the NFL, I won’t care or tell them not to. If fans say they’ll only watch the CFL if they change this and this and this, I take offense because they don’t really like it, they think it’s only good enough if it suits their needs.

Instead of the league trying to show others that our brand of football is a great game too they say “please come watch!!??? What can we do to make you give us a chance???”. When has the NHL ever begged fans to love their sport by making huge changes to its dynamics? When has the NFL OR MLB ever changed its core rules to appease the fans who won’t watch?

If I or other fans complain and say “I won’t watch because of” they won’t care. The CFL bent over and said “whatever you want, just please come watch our game!!”

This is what I have a problem with.. they gave in.

CFL wasn’t struggling because of its rules, it was struggling because the BOD couldn’t market the league to save it’s life! They are clueless and these changes won’t make their poor marketing abilities suddenly become amazing now. It will still suck!

Well, it looks like we figured that one out too, so that’s great.

Currently during the game we see most teams use up the 20 second clock on each play. Durning the final 3 minutes the team behind generally runs the hurry up offence trying to score and win the game. This is exactly what fans should want to see.

The issue I have with all of these rule changes being proposed is that they make the game slower and boring just like the NFL. Do fans really want the crappy NFL game in Canada?

A 20 second clock makes you put the ball into play faster, more plays. A very high percentage of games are decided in the last three mins. How many times do you see an NFL game where one team has no timeouts and the other just runs out the clock. 4 plays is 160 seconds so exciting to watch eh? I think not.

Moving the end zones is the loss of the miss field goal return. What’s the point of watching a field goal attempt without the possibility of a return? I’d suggest flipping a coin is just as interesting if there are no consequences to missing. How many people really watch an NFL field goal attempt? If they make it you get to watch a kickoff, now that’s less exciting than the field goal itself.

These are just a nail on the coffin of the CFL.
