Landry: Bombers seeking 'truth' as they face Elks

The truth is what the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are after and they sure do hope that what they find is the truth they want.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.cfl.ca/2023/07/20/landry-bombers-seeking-truth-as-they-face-elks

I do not think having a winless team does much for the League, any more than a team that wins every game. The CFL prides itself on unpredictability, but right now it feels like the ELKs are a guarantee win for any team that faces off against them. I hope somehow the Elks break this slump soon and start giving their opposition something to worry about.

So the Bombers have about 4 prep days between this game and the last? Just so tsn can have their precious Thursday Night Football that only they like? Injury lists keep growing yet we continue to get scheduling like this? I’ve never met anyone that likes the Thursday games although I’m sure there’s probably somebody out there. They’re bad for the teams, bad for the fans, bad for attendance and as soon as the NFL starts they’ll drop it like a hot potato. I admit to slagging tsn alot but that’s because I think they deserve it and soon NFL and NCAA start and they will treat the CFL like a second class citizen and USPORTS and jr. football as if they don’t even exist.

In case you are not aware there is actually a thread dedicated to the new schedule of predominantly 4 games in 4 nights until Labour Day. The CFL wisely doesn’t plan to compete against the NFL on Sundays.

You say that you have never met anyone that likes the new schedule and specifically Thursday games. I like the new schedule as did the majority of those posting in the schedule thread. That’s not statistically significant but there are certainly many who like the new schedule. Everyone has different preferences and commitments but I was happy to see an overall positive review of the schedule this year. Teams have different preferences as well. Winnipeg loves Thursday night home games in the summer because the city empties out on weekends

Truth? WTF!?

No the Bombers are the favourite, and well, we can just hope for a good game instead of another stinker.

Enough of this manufactured hype already for one of these Thursday night games!

Who writes such drivel?

No there dude, a loss is a loss. Stop with this ivory tower and high-brow moral victory narrative!

Of course there are things to work on anyway, and it’s best to avoid pooping the bed too.

You’re a crappy writer there “System”! Screw you!

thursday games are common.

many examples of four day rests before Thursday game.

It’s not the Game Thread for you any more there System Landry, so take a hike with your “truth” and “moral victory” nonsense too and do better next time!

Yeah this was never a game thread but just an article.

For some reason this year the system isn’t generating game threads. This is after often generating 3-4 game threads per game last year. You made one last week and feel free as should anyone to start a game thread for any game until the CFL fixes whatever they need to fix. I know I won’t catch them all. I expect that many will be more interested in a game thread if their team is playing but that doesn’t have to be the case.

Brady Olivera is a beast.

I guess it was there for all to see. Edmonton played as well as they are going to play. Winnipeg is so much better yet it was a game up til the end. The long ground game gassed the EE defense and why wouldn’t it? Brady Olivera is as impressive a running back as any you’ll see. Damn he just goes on and on…
