Landry: 3 moments that turned the tide for the Argos

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts were deadlocked in a tight, defensive struggle at the 111th Grey Cup Game, with a little over six minutes remaining in the third quarter.

The above article shows you can not win the Grey Cup without great :canada: talent. All :three: players Fraser Sopik-Jack Cassar-Kevin Mital hold a proud “Canadian Passport” :bangbang:

Credit goes to Argo’s defense plan. It was planned to handle Zach cleanly with attacking turnovers. It failed couple of occasions. But it was cleanly handled otherwise. WPG offense might get got success, if you let them long pass and just try stop. But Argos intentionally planned for turnovers and that broke WPG.

I thought it was Dinwiddie not Arbuckle in the middle as QB…
The statement ‘do not try to be HERO’ by Dinwiddie stands. He ran the ball as he wish and chew-up the time. Argos TDs came as bonus… Offense had 3 TD’s and 2 picks. Defense won the game.

Agreed, all were big plays. But the moment the Argos took momentum and WBB never really got it back was after Whiteheads fumble. Turning point in the game for me.

The phantom interference call on the blocked punt was disgraceful. In the 60 years I’ve followed the CFL, and can say with confidence that that call has never been made. I wonder whose butt they pulled it from.

That interference on the loose ball happened right in front of where we were sitting and there were two officials who immediately threw flags so it was definitely well spotted, IMHO.

I would like to reiterate. In 60 years I have never seen nor heard that call made. In a fracas where players are trying to obtain possession in this very same instance happens on almost every scenario. I will admit that the rule does exist, but they don’t call it. Why? Because of the confusion of multiple players trying to gain possession. Having said that, if the Bomber player had simply allowed the Argo player to get possession and tackle him, the Bombers would have gained possession regardless as it was a third down play. Perhaps a brain fart on the part of the Bomber player, but a rarely ever used call in the most important game of the year…bad call. As a BBall official myself, there is a time when we use discretion so as not too influence the outcome of a game. This in my opinion would be one of those times.
