Labour Day Wkend Not the same

As I sit here this sat morning I'd usually be getting ready to go grocery shopping to pick up some argo meat for the tailgate on monday.. But because of the teams rediculous decision to rebuild Ivor Wynne (not tim horton field) on the same location I'm stuck without a labour day classic. No sold out stadium, no 30 000 beers consumed by the hard workin hamiltonians no watching argo fans getting beat up by the rowdy and crazy cats fans no chanting ARGOS SUCK.. In 365 days the classic will be back at Ivor Wynne but until then Mr. Young enjoy the sold out crowd in guelph oh wait there is no game, thanks chump I guess I will enjoy some steak and burgers with my kids and at least I won't be going to work with a hangover monday.. ARGOS SUCK

Really?

You had to start another thread about this?

FYI the IWS site was the best of the worst areas to build the stadium from the team's POV.

East Mountain or Confederation Park were both flushed down the crapper by City council.

Mayor (Right Said) Fred wanted Prov and Fed $$$ to clean up the West Harbour site and build a set of bleachers for a stadium. Actually, I don't even think that after land appropriation, renumeration costs, and the like, that they would have enough of a budget left for a couple of benches and a porta-potty...

Wouldn't have been a LDC against the Argos anyway since they were given Tuesday as a home game date. IF there was a game on Labour Day Ticats would have been playing another team anyway. Hopefully the RC doesn't mess up the LDC with its scheduling of Argo games next year. :expressionless:

Are u serious? If the cats were playing in hamilton of coarse there would have been a game here monday against the argos, the league would not of had them play tueaday

All I was trying to say is that it sucks that theres no labour day game this year because thats the one game that the fans really do have alot of fun at. Its a great atmosphere from start to finish. And ya the whole new stadium process was a joke. I don't care who is to blame but its rediculous. Your building a brand NEW stadium in the worst part of town. Just imagine people coming to games from out of town have to drive through that run down neighbourhood. Theres no restaurants to get a bit to eat after the game (well there is mcdonalds down the street), if people are coming from out of town there isn't a hotel within a 10 km radius its just a joke of a location to spend all that money on a new stadium. If its at confederation you have all the necessities on hwy 20. Eateries, lodging and entertainment. So shut your mouth

Dont waste your words.THERE IS NO LABOUR DAY CLASSIC this year.
Get over it catsin14

I’m looking forward to the Thanksgiving Day Classic against the blew team this year. Glass half full…

Yup feeling a little Down today as well , it was always a great tradition in our house hold to end the summer with a party ! Scott park tailgate and our famous football game ! but next year we will all be sitting in our new seats and I am sure that the Caretaker will make it a special Labour day opener for our new home !

Bob a request can we pre book 431 air demonstration squadron THE SNOWBIRDS and don't forget the CWH Lancaster ! those happy thoughts and memories will get me through the winter ! And a winning team

Yep you’ve got to be positive!! i

So these posters didn’t know until now there was not going to be Labor Day Classic, and now they are on here complaining about the decision to re-build on the same site?.
Next year at this time one team will not be playing Labor Day weekend. Who knows, the classic could be Montreal at Ottawa and the Argos in Hamilton. BC will probably sit out the weekend.

You’re actually on to something I’ve thought about for a while…

We have the traditional Labour Day weekend games…Outside of the traditional following week rematches of Calgary vs Edmonton and Saskatchewan vs Winnipeg,I’ve always thought that Thanksgiving weekend would be a good time to have the rematches in the other teams field every year…ie. Hamilton goes to Toronto…

why didn't they compromise and hold the Labour day classic in Toronto, at least the correct teams would be playing each other. The Blue Jays were away so that couldn't be the reason, was there another event happening there yesterday to prevent that?

I guess you haven’t been following the threads, because it has been mentioned many times that it takes too long to convert the RC from baseball to football. Never mind the fact that Rogers seems to be doing everything it can to get rid of the blew team…

We get another game tonight though, seems like an extension of the weekend! Okey dokey by me, I was busy anyways this past weekend and taped games.

At any rate, if the CFL was so concerned, they should have thought about this scenario the exact minute Rogers bought the bowl for $25 mill. The beauty is Rogers is finally doing the Argos and the CFL a favour and kicking them out of their baseball stadium. It'll be in the best interests of the Argos and CFL to move on and get a football specific stadium built. And I think it will happen to be honest. I still can't get over that I was served a beer in a Blue Jays cup at the 100th Grey Cup. :thdn: :thdn: Bad. Next time I go to a Grey Cup in Toronto, that beer cup better have something to do with the CFL on it, that's for sure!
