Labour Day 2011 Play-by-Play Game Thread: 9/5/2011

Labour Day 2011: Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes: September 5, 2011

Labour Day is here again, and so it is time to post the thread for posting about the Labour Day game as it happens. If you want to post about the game as it's happening, this is the place to do so. There may not be as many posts here, as many of those who post to these forums will be there at IWS. (And those who are going, ensure you bring a non-perishable food item or cash to donate. And bring the noise (only) when our defence is on the field!) But those who can't make it to IWS can discuss the game with their fellow Ticat fans here. So here we go.

WHAT – Tiger-Cats Gameday. Labour Day. Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes.

WHO - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes.

WHY – To see if the Ticats can improve their record to 5-4 and move ahead of the Als into second place in their division.

WHERE - Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario.

WHEN - Monday, September 5th, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

HOW - Radio: CHML (900 kHz AM) or Y108 (107.9 MHz FM) broadcasting from Hamilton.

Television: TSN.

Internet: Visit http://www.900chml.com and click the “listen live? link, or simply click here to listen to CHML now.

Click here for today's weather forecast. At the time I'm posting this, there is a 30% probability of precipitation this afternoon and winds of 15 km/h are expected. And at time this was posted, it was expected that the temperature will be about 17 degrees Celsius.

Here we are. Labour Day. The opponent may be different this time, but this game can still be considered a must-win. The Ticats need this win if they want to have a chance of hosting a playoff game. If they lose, they will drop below .500 and it'll be hard to imagine them not being 4-6 after the rematch next Sunday in Montreal. The opponent may be different, although the rivalry between these two teams does seem to be heating up. This should be an entertaining game, maybe even a classic, or classique as it being called. Let us hope the theme today will be this: Different Labour Day opponent. Same Labour Day intensity and crowd noise. Familiar Labour Day result: Ticat win.

Go Ticats!

WOOOOOOOOOOO

Christmas in September... I want a Tabbie win...

Got my beer chilling, got my Argos Suck T-Shirt on.... I am stoked for a good game....

Ugh kick off is so far away....

Great job BYF!! as usual!!

We must Win BOTH GAMES of the Home and Home

Win Today then get Ready to do it again In Labell Province

Thank you BYF for putting the game thread together. It should be a great day at the old stadium.

I like Tom's idea of a sweep.

And add to that if we can get the Riders to sweep the Staggerville Bummerss.... ohh man all would be right in my world!!

P.S I didn't leave out the Blew team.. .they did that themselves

We need to Sweep we must get 2nd

I don't like idea of playing 2 Games on the Road in The playoffs

We don’t need to sweep, we just have to win two of our three remaining games against Montreal. So we could win today, lose next week, then win on October 16th.

I just spotted this on Ticketmaster.ca when I went online to purchase tics for today's game - of wich seems to be unfortunately sold out. :frowning:

"I routed for the Toronto Argonauts and even though they lost, I had a very good time. Travelling to Hamilton to see this classic rivalry was something I wanted to do for a long time. The atmosphere was electric seeing all the Hamilton TiCats fans cheering the home team while showing their serious dislike for the Argos. You can sense the community feeling and warm that seems to lack in Toronto.

You're in a stadium that is very barebones and basic but the connection between fans and the team is tight. The entertainment within the stadium perimeters only added to the excitement. I liked the pitched tents at the baseball diamond watching people drink beer and listen to music. Really feels like football."

Thanks for the compliments on how I started off this thread.

And thanks for posting that, Larry. I knew that there weren't many good seats available left, but I suppose that for the Labour Day game, you need to get your tickets while you can, regardless of who the opponent is. And what you quoted there sure seems to say it all about experiencing a game there. Too bad I couldn't make it.

And it would be best to win as many of those games against Montreal as possible. Need to win those "four point" games if you want to host a playoff game.

Kickoff is within two hours...

Thanks as alway BYF for the great GDT!

Go Cats!!

Kelly's a healthy scratch? Wow. You know you have receiving corps depth when...

Should be an interesting segment on Thigpen on TSN next.

Thanks for the thread BYF
It's the middle of the night here but I'm up and ready for some football

This game is a biggie

Go Cats

Not a problem.

It is Labour Day, so I’m sure you’re more than willing to stay up for this one.

Kickoff in a few minutes.

Former #Ticats LB Otis Floyd gets standing ovation from crowd leading Cats onto the field.

TSN's coverage is on now.

And it was good to see that clip of him running out on the field before the team.

Drew says this:

I bet if you gave Otis a set of pads and a helmet, he'd take the first series at middle linebacker. The man just loved to hit.
Another tweet:
#Ar**s suck so much that the #Ticats wanted a real opponent for Labour Day
Kickoff coming up.

Game on!

Thigpen gets tripped up, we start inside our 20.

There was talk about need for good start. Let's see one.

poop. mann fumbles and the larks score...

Noooooooooooooooooooo!

Just as I said we need good start, Mann fumbles his first catch since coming back, returned for TD.

Alright, let's get it right next drive.
