People here are not going to buy tickets to CFL games on Labor Day weekend with also so much else to do or just plain stay home like many folks do to get a break, and the rest is as stated above.
And that’s even if, and it’s a huge if, one could get a field in a venue without having to shorten it, which one would have to do in most soccer-primary venues as well given the size of the end zones.
Actually, you might want to instead blame Quebec City, London, and of course Halifax for not ponying up for a stadium so that there are 10 teams! Oops! Do not want this to drift to more expansion talk:)
In the recent years Montreal was playing against Ottawa during the Labor Day weekend you idiot. Only this year is exception because of the touchdown pacific event.
Last game in Montreal on Labour Day only had 17,112 according to Canadian Football All-Time Labour Day Weekend Games on CFLdb Statistics in attendance. The other factor would be giving the schedule a shake up. The worst attended game in 2023 was Lions in Toronto. They made that the home opener for the Argonauts in order to bump things. The CFL often does this sort of re-shuffling.
