L.A. Times on Ticats/Riders game

Well, this is good news for the C.F.L. and their efforts to expand awareness past our borders.

From the L.A Times

Hamilton sends Saskatchewan to 0-3

July 16, 2011
Hamilton, ON — Kevin Glenn found Chris Williams for two scores through the air, highlighting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats' 33-3 drubbing of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Glenn ended with 203 yards on 19-of-31 passes for Hamilton (1-2), which got four field goals from Justin Medlock in the rout.

"They played loose. They didn't sweat the mistakes," Tiger-Cats head coach Marcel Bellefeuille said. "It doesn't matter who you play, when you have success it brings confidence."

Thanks deer for that.

What's sad is reading this article from the Montreal Gazette from CFL "non-respect for.CFL"writer Mike Bloome And not acknowledging AC.is worth watching by leaving out the Als until hockey returns. I've been emailing him and he says, to quote jim, "a total NFL.guy". I said I'm a total football guy but he probably doesn't get that.

The L.A. Times, one of the most respected papers in America. Always good to get attention there.

Earl, it is sad when your own city doesn't recognize such an important accomplishment, such as that by Anthony Cavillo. I don't want to discourage, but sometimes it's pointless to try to speak to those who will not listen, in this case, Mike Boone. It might be better to save your breath for those worth talking to.

I've loved this league for a long time. I don't need a Mike Boone to prove it to me!

Very well said old fan.

Herb Zurkowsky is the one who normally covers the Als for the Gazette, not Boone. Herb in fact did acknowledge AC's accomplishment in this:

http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/f ... story.html

Thanks for posting that kick. Too bad Boone had to write to counter Herb that since Montreal isn't getting a baseball team, people just have to wait until hockey starts, as I was mentioning. I don't care if be isn't a CFL fan but I just find it somewhat disrespectful to the Als at a time when their qb is breaking a significant league record to dismiss this with bow he wrote his article that I mentioned here. 0 class. :thdn:

Bloome must write for the CFL-hating Toronto Star too.

An Argo-Cat fan

I realize they are just picking up stories off the wire, but, the Los Angeles Times editors seem to be covering the CFL regularly..this is a good thing 8)

Here's another story they published recently:

(maybe it's time we ship some Tiger-Cat apparel down there)

Los Angeles Times is now carrying the Ted Michaels CFL column

Call him "Hollywood" from now on.....lol

Thanks deer, will be forwarding this link to Mike Boome at the Montreal Gazette for updating purposes. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think we should remember our spelling.
'deer' is not 'dear'.
'Deer' is that animal - you know, like Santa's Reindeer.
'Dear' is what you say to your Mom.
.
Just for the record...

:rockin: :rockin: :rockin:

Great point Eagle.

Along the lines of a super Canadian group under the radar The Dears (shameless plug, I admit  8) _

http://www.thedears.org/

Sorry Mike Boome, I know you only like "big" "huge" groups like U2, I know Mike, I know, the CFL is "rinky dink 3 down stuff" and you can say this as a Canadian sports writer while a qb in your city is breaking a Canadian football record. No problem Mike, I know your story, a group like The Dears are beneath you, we get it, you are the Almighty, like "your" Steelers. Your Alouettes are rinky dink as you alluded to me in your email. Loser.

BTW, the NFL plays on a "rinky dink" playing field, to use your basic language bud. Some even say kids stuff. :stuck_out_tongue:  But I'll take the NFL over the NHL any day, it's all gridiron afterall.
