After the Mace hiring saga and marketing campaign last winter and what they said about Coach M the notion of HAM crossing over at SSKs expense, seems, I dunno, kinda fun.
We might even cross over at BCās expense. They havenāt won at home since July.
For a guy with that t- shirt on, he sure had a hard time reconciling the truth.
Iām old school. I believe in East v West. What I really want is an Argo collapse.
Betts was only visible because of his borderline cheap shots on Bo. He should have been flagged at least twice.
Plus a mystery punch we didnāt get a replay of.
Ottawa collapse might be more realistic
Yep. 9-21 in his last 30 regular season games and no playoff participation. 15-25 in his last 40 and one playoff game, lost.
His 4-0, in the past month is quite an, unexpected, accomplishment, but it doesnāt erase those other numbers from my view of his history, as a CFL head coach.
Look fellas, thereās no reason all of the 3 other East teams canāt collapse.
I canāt help but wonder if losing Ricky Ray to a knee and then a punctured lung (after a 4-2 start) might have had any impact on the 2016 Argos record. Guess weāll never know.
I had misgivings last year when some suggested he would be anointed head coach here. That he lost the room with the Argos in 2016, and Chris Jones was as big of a reason why they won the Cup in 2012.
Realistically though itās not fair to a coach to pick a point in time that fits a certain viewpoint. If you did you would reduce Kent Austin to the 0-8 start in 2017 and ignore what he built from 2013-15. Or Lancaster to the 1-17 debacle of the 2003 bankruptcy year. Hell even Belichick would be a colossal failure post-Brady.
Milanovich has installed the best offence here since 2019. I didnāt agree with the Bo benching/comments after the second Als game and still not sure leaving Butler on the shelf is wise but he made two bold moves to replace co-ordinators that have gotten us to the position where we are in. Players seem to have bought in. I figured this would be a transition year regardless with all the changes and you would start to see glimpses of what the team could be in the second half of the year. Heās guided the team nicely through all that and I think you see a really good squad in 2025.
Wow Ti-Cats redemption tour is on! Ahead of both the Elks and the Stamps in the standings! Keep it up!
The turning point of this game was when they got the 2 point convert on a trick play, thatās when it appeared that the Ticats were coming back to win it.
Iām sure part of the experience with the Argos - riding Ricky Ray as he aged and watching Collaros and Harris move on to successes with other teams (Barker played a role in that too) - played into his decision to prop up Powell and make a premature decision on Bo. As weird as it sounds, and I feel like a d*ck for saying this because I like the young man, Powell not hook sliding in that start against Edmonton might have helped turn our season around as well as the move to Jones as DC.
Thatās not what I was doing, with my post, today. I was answering a question regarding Milanovichās record in his last 30, and 40, games as a CFL head coach.
It has to be fair, though, to look a a coachās entire record, which for Scott is 49-56 regular season, and 3-2 post-season including the Grey Cup victory, with the 9-9 team in his rookie season.
Compared, for example, to the 20 some odd men whoāve been Tiger-Cat head coaches, Milanovichās career record would rank him in the high teens, or lower half, of that group.
I think Milo is a control freak when it comes to his offense and a strong personality like Bo isnāt what he ideally wants (same as Austin/Burris) but maybe Bo has given a few inches and realised Milo is his best chance to extend his career even if itās with checkdowns and maybe Milo has given a few inches realising Bo a damn assassin when heās on his game.
Hopefully this continues.
Fair enough. I pointed out my own misgivings about Milanovich and wasnāt really trying to attack your viewpoint, youāre not the only person here or on other boards who has pointed out his recent record. Just wanted to get across that coaching success ebbs and flows for a lot of reasons. Trestman and Popp resurrected themselves in Toronto in 2017 but crashed again in 2018 when Ray was injured. Talent and circumstances play into it as much as anything
Good comparison to the dynamic of Austin and Burris had. I imagine there are many similarities. The difference is Bo has the ability to get on a roll and stay consistently good. Burris was rarely able to be consistent.
Coaching records both ways are often overrated and overused as a measure of success/failure.
The measure of a coach is really is he getting the absolute most out of the team he is given.
Good coaches have bad seasons for various reasons and bad coaches win championships because it all goes their way.
Another obvious measure is are they blowing games with their decisions, not putting their players in the best position to win.
I believe based on what weāve seen this season Milo is the right guy for the job and if given the proper tools (and maybe keeping Chris Jones around) heāll be the one to lead us to a Grey Cup.
