Masoli was demoted in camp,iirc.
Masoli spent the majority of that season on the PR . He only dressed for 6 games and wasnât elevated to number #1status until the ESF match-up with the Anchors . Austin for whatever the reason had a hardon for Masoli and a massive crush on Mathews and then Harris before finally turning to number #8 who in retrospect was the most experienced QB on the roster at that time .
I still strongly believe that if Austin wouldâve went to Masoli earlier after Zacâs injury instead of dicking around with the other two QBâs that our record wouldâve been much better than the 10-8 that we ended up with . People forget that we were sitting at 8-3 when Zac went down and wound up only going 2-5 down the stretch without him .
Masoli had his growing pains too.
he treated the football like a greased watermelon.
Massive fumblitis
If we signed Glenn we probably win the GC.
The ONE thing Glenn was good at was throwing INTs in the end zone.
I never liked him.
If the Bombers had Glen when they played for the Grey Cup against the Riders, the Bombers would have won. Broke his arm late season.
Kevin Glenn is the Rodney Dangerfield of CFL quarterbacks
He did a good job wherever he went, GG.
See Condell, Tommy.
Has anyone asked if we still win if Powell was playing ?
Well, sadly, since no one would be able to answer a question like that, why would someone ask it?
You see, you could ask a similar question about whether we would have won if Powell played the the last 53 minutes of the Edmonton game, or if we would have had a better offensive performance in the last quarter of the Winnipeg game if whats-his-name was playing.
Sports and hypotheticals go together like blaming a loss on the QB, officiating and coaching. Every fan does it. Every. Fan.
Just a question I have and maybe it was already answered. In the fourth quarter at around the 2:50 mark in the game we had just finished a play and the clock ran for 21 seconds before the officials huddled up and called Hamilton for having only six on the line. 1) I didnât see a flag when I was at the game.2) I didnât see one on the TSN replay. If there wasnât a flag how could they call a penalty after the fact and why wasnât time put back on the clock??
In the play in question the command centre buzzed down to the head official and called the procedure penalty, this is why there was no flag on the field. This is in the eye in the Skys scope as arbitrary as it feels.
On plays with penalties the clock does not reset. Itâs a weird timing nuance in the CFL but they only add time back if the play is blown dead vs allowed to play out.
Another very odd CFL timing rule is letâs say there is a fumble and after the fumble the recovery takes 10 seconds. If the player is deemed down by contact on review - the 10 seconds after the recovery are not added back to the clock.
The CFL has some very interesting (and arbitrary) timing rules.
I donât recall the command centre ever getting involved in a procedure violation. That felt over the top at the time. When you consider the number of times in a game receivers go offside on both teams (not talking a back foot still at the line but 2-3 yards past the LOS), it was a puzzling call.
The CFL has changed what the command centre can and canât do so many times that itâs tough to find an updated link, but I know that they canât call a receiver offside if no flag is thrown, but I think this penalty in question is a procedural one (like too many men) and I believe they can intervene for it.
It did feel over the top because I watch basically every CFL game and canât recall them calling down for this penalty anytime recently.
Is it also just me or do the refs have hand-me-down microphones too? More than half the time, it cuts out and you donât even know what or to whom the penalty is for.
Iâm not expecting Taylor Swift quality microphones but something a little better would help educate the masses on whatâs actually going on.
Thanks Crash for the explanation. After looking into this a little farther I have the same gripe as many others in 1) The paying crowd is not made aware that the booth is reviewing the play and 2) There isnât any clear time limit on them to tell the on field referees that they are looking at it. I guess the best way around this is to run a hurry up offence and snap the ball, case closed!
Well said jim: Those of us at the game are too aware that we take a back seat to the TV viewers
Not as much as you think. A lot of the time the commentators are talking over the ref so you canât hear him or they switch to commercial and the announcers say" weâll sort that out after the break" and thatâs last itâs ever mentioned.
