Kiss the 2019 EDF Witches.

That is SO not elite.

Isn’t it always? ;D ;D ;D Anyway shots of the stands on TV showed a solid black look in the stands - probably helps that the seats are grey! It looked good and sounded even better!
And if it got a bit chilly when the wind picked up (as apparently it did) the concourse is a good place to warm up a bit. That’s what we did a couple of weeks ago at the game - mainly at halftime though!

Well they don’t call it CowTown for nothing Mark . ;D

I think all the standing room tickets they sold nudged more people to sit in their assigned seats. They announced it as a new THF attendance record, which really only means they’ve never offered this many tickets before. I get the impression demand was higher in 2014.

We played a great game today and beat the 6th place team in the league in our yard.

Winnipeg has beaten the 3rd place and 2nd place teams in the league respectively AND both times in a hostile environment on the road.

Winnipeg will again head on the road, to a stadium they won at last week.
The same place we have not won in a decade.

This will be our toughest challenge regardless of our record against BB in the regular season. I consider Zach, when healthy, a much superior QB to either Nichols or Streveller.

Its gonna be interesting.

If he #hashtagged it he might be a social influencer.

They are Elite.

The thing that has made a big difference this year is how even keel this team is when facing a little adversity. They have seemed to take on the persona of their HC Orlondo.

(Case in point 1.) Evans seems to be good for one pick a game where he tries to force a deeper ball into double coverage. Yet the team just bounces right back with no ill effects. Defence makes a stop and the offence comes right back out.

(Case in point 2.) The Tasker fumble could have been a huge momentum swing for Edmonton. Yet the Cat’s defence limited the Esks to a FG. Then on their ensuing possession Evans engineers a TD drive.

This team just does not get rattled and does not quit. Intangibles that nicely compliment their overall talent and skill.

Some thoughts on the game experience (not the actual game - maybe later):

  1. I knew it would be a good day when a few passersby helped push my car up onto the lawn where I was trying to park, after my wheels kept spinning in the snow. I even missed the low-hanging tree branches despite a minor change of direction as I made it up over the sidewalk.

  2. I thought there might be challenges when a group of guys sat right in front of us and were more interested in smoking, taking selfie videos, and standing up at random times than actually watching the game. Then, just as randomly, they all left by early second quarter. I used their empty seats to store some gear.

  3. Much better luck with the guy next to me who gave us a peewee football that we tossed around on the field after the game. He mentioned that his father was a mechanic on Lancaster bombers during WWII!

  4. Longest washroom line-up I’ve seen - perhaps 40-50 people just to get in the door. I knew that would be the case when I decided to devote my halftime to that particular mission. Fortunately, we men get in and out quickly and I was back in my seat before the Q3 kickoff.

  5. Thought I’d prepared for everything the weather could dish out. The one thing I didn’t count on was my feet sitting in a pool of ice water for the entire game as the snow melted throughout. In the end it didn’t really matter because we won.

  6. It was great to see Garney Henley do the coin toss. It feels like I’ve been a fan forever and yetI don’t remember him as a player, and I know he played forever himself. A lot of Ticat history represented in the players they introduced in the pre-game - Henley, DiPietro, Hitchcock, Davis - four guys covering every decade since the 1960s!

  7. I like to think the players were feeding off the energy of the crowd. Evans mentioned it in a post-game interview. Banks couldn’t seem to stop jumping up and down and egging us on.

8 ) From what I could see, everything ran very smoothly. Kudos to all the stadium staff/crew, as well as the marketing staff who came up with some great videos for the big screen.

  1. The rally towels were a nice touch. Probably not too expensive, and looked great when everyone was waving them.

  2. Perhaps the most electric atmosphere I’ve seen at THF. The 2014 EDF was great too. Hard to compare. I’ll go with today because they said we set a record for attendance!

Rewatching the footage on the PVR. It looks like TSN used drone cameras over the stadium. The crowd shots are fantastic. The seats actually looked more full than usual and the Blackout Effect looked amazing.

Kudos to all the fans for making the atmosphere so electric and for showing the players all that love.

Legit ?. they were so proud with the shot, they kept featuring it.

Awesome game.

Rod Black Quotes from the game…

Sean Whyte extends the lead with the FG.

Hamilton last played Saskatchewan in the GC in 1989

That was a great shot. I actually paused it on my TV. My dad and I went through the shot in detail.

The stadium and all the fans looked out of this world.

Pointed out what used to be King George school, my school.
(Also Parkview school - that I didnt attend)

Then Prince of Wales school, building was quite different when I attended.

Where Scott Park & Pinky Lewis used to be. Learn to swim at Pinky Lewis.

And of course …the home I grew up in all those years.

Just a fantastic shot!

Nice use of caution there, but not nescasary. We’re the best.

People who sat in their seats yesterday think they’re so cool

I’ve never been in the new building.
Ah, good old Prince of Wales. I can still feel the crack of the strap on my hands.

And that battle-axe of a librarian/reading teacher. Nightmares 55 years later!

Elite! ??

You seem worried, let me ease your mind.

We played a great game today and beat the 6th place team in the league in our yard.

We beat them by 20. Controlled the game from start to finish.

Winnipeg has beaten the 3rd place and 2nd place teams in the league respectively AND both times in a hostile environment on the road.

We’re the first place team - they’re the 4th place team. We will be the favourite in the eyes of Vegas and the general public.

Winnipeg will again head on the road, to a stadium they won at last week.
The same place we have not won in a decade.

Those aren’t tangible factors. We haven’t beat Calgary - the field and stadium means nothing.

This will be our toughest challenge regardless of our record against BB in the regular season. I consider Zach, when healthy, a much superior QB to either Nichols or Streveller.

Doubtful. This isn’t the matchup of 2 titans on a collision course. A healthy Fajardo likely beats them. Full credit for taking what was in front of them.

Its Winnipeg facing THEIR toughest test - and fighting an uphill battle to beat us.

Its gonna be interesting.

Same as this week - its possible that we can lose. Nothing is guaranteed. But if we lose it will be an upset. We are clear cut the better team.

So much noticing.
