Kevin Glenn back to the Peg????

Glenn may consider himself a starter and he may want to be in a QB competition with Tate but none of that is his call. Huff seems to have a lot of confidence in second year pro Bo Levi. Glenn may find himself in a QB competition for the second string spot and may stick around on the Calgary roster until a starter with a young back up behind him not named Mitchell goes down for a period of time and Calgary can then offer Glenn up as a temp QB.

Glenn can be a very valuable qb in a very 2nd string or 3rd string position but he's not the future for any team. He is looking to follow in the steps of a Marcus Brady but with more experience. Often the best coaches were basically average players.

...I could live with Glenn...I don't know for how long though....I agree with wolverine...this is highly speculative at best right now AND if Huf. wants our first rounder...I say no-go... Pierce and Glenn two very different pivot types, can't see both on the club....We shall see if this rumour has any foundation ...I'm hearing the tweet might just be wishful thinking BUT ya never know....

Why are people comparing Glenn to Marcus F. Brady? Glenn has taken his team to two Grey Cup games (yes, I count the 07 loss to SSK, since he was basically the big reason Winnipeg made it to the final) and has had many years of productivity as a starter in this league. Brady never even made it out the gate as a starter. Inadmissible comparison IMO.

Looking through the record book it may surprise some to see Glenn at number 10 on the all time passing list, ahead of 11th Kent Austin and 2400 yards behind Tom Clement at 9th

Pretty much everyone ahead of him is or will be in the HOF.

Interesting stat you came up with there Slant. 10th out of a pool of 50 QBs is pretty darn good I'd say. He even beat out Dickenson and Lancaster. What does that say? I'm impressed. And looking at Calvillo's total yards you have to wonder if any QB in the CFL will ever beat his record. Burris and Ray are still in the league and the closest. Calvillo has almost twkice as many yards as each of them! Wow, maybe some records are meant never to be broken. :rockin:

Slant - Where did you get your stats from? you show Ron Lancaster 1970 - 1978??? with only 27,000 yards?
I think you missed out his career in the 60's and a whole lot more yards, he had over 50,000 Yards passing!!

I personally would absolutely love it if the bombers were to bring back Glenn.

We would go from fighting it out with Hamilton or the basement, to being right in the mix of things with Toronto and Montreal...

Very good catch Mikem!

ya of course.

i cut and pasted from Sports Statistics

Yeah, I have heard TSN commentators discuss it several times actually. I have never understood why he took so much flack, I have always thought he was solid. 2010 Cats…9 wins, 2011 Cats…8, 2012…6. Now granted the Hamilton O looked pretty good last year and the D was rather bad, but the team had more wins with him. back in 03…I have no idea what made the Riders keep Butler over Glenn…oh, right…Wiley and Coyote tandem Barrett and Shivers.

Glenn’s numbers as a Bomber over 5 seasons:
1327/2182 for 18081yards Ratio:103/71

Those are respectable numbers.

Do they only start in 1970? I don’t see Russ Jackson, Bernie Faloney, Sam Etcheverry, Joe Zuger, Kenny Ploen, Joe Kapp, etc. etc.

Kevin Glenn averaged 6 yards per rush in 2012, buck only averaged 5…

Buck used to be a very mobile QB, but he isn’t anymore.

I personally don’t think Bucks a very good QB when healthy anymore. I’d like to see him a a coach more than a player.

better list...

the only QB that changes to above Glenn is Lancaster, so he is 11th

God...it still blows my mind thinking of what Flutie could have done.

Flutie: Games dressed: 135, YPG average...306

AC: Games dressed...322, YPG average...243

I know...Flutie was a starter by the end of his first season, but still...

ha...slant, you beat me to the new list

First of all, it wouldn't be a scenario of Glenn with Buck. It'd be one or the other.

Glenn would be an upgrade over Buck, if only because of the injury situation. The question then becomes...the compensation for Glenn? I'd be very hesitant to give up our 1st rounder unless there's information out there that hints the personnel we're targeting may be going to the NFL. Even then, the back and forth picks would have to be acceptable.

And how about Calgary? They would have to be pretty confident in B.L. Mitchell to take a chance of erasing their safety net behind Tate.

You can put me down as not a fan. Sure he'd upgrade the position due to his experience, and I'm sure would challenge Buck even if healthy for the starters job. But personally I don't like either of them as my starter. In the end it would probably provide us with a couple more wins, and playoffs, but they both suck when the game matters.
Like others have mentioned, one of the 2 new guys would have to go, but I guess they can take 5 into camp to rate them.

I hope as well it wouldn't be anything more than a 2nd. It would be too funny though to see the usuals come out and blast Mack for giving up too much in acquiring Glenn, after making such a big deal for him not getting an experienced QB

I don’t know about that. It makes some sense - an often injured QB backed up by what is referred to as the best back up…

Aside from the cost of carrying both QBs, it just doesn’t makes sense to go through the procedure of picking up two QBs like Clement and Hall and keeping Goltz, and plug them behind two veterans, virtually not developing any of them.
