Looks like the Saudi’s are playing the card that the MLS used to play - bringing in players on the tail end of their careers.

Rumour is there is even more to the story. After seeing what Qatar accomplished, the Saudis want the World Cup too. They are collecting players with global brands so as to be ambassadors as part of those efforts.
I’m already sour on the tournament for expansion in 2026, and well, it’s not looking promising if we have to see yet another blasted World Cup at the start of winter instead of in the summer when it should be played.

Totally agree with you - there is no way in hell that that Saudi’s are going to let little brother get one up on them. It might take 30 years or so but they are not going to let Quatar have that as bragging rights to hold over them forever.
