Jonathan Crompton

Means little really. Team could pull him back. They could cut him after the season. Or they could bring him in to compete at camp. A lot will depend on Cato's performance over the next five to six weeks.

#Alouettes QB @jcromp8 will be with coaches upstairs while awaiting more tests on shoulder. #CFL

He cant be released if injured, but how many chances do you give a guy to show hes not a decent QB? Time to move on from him.

A lot can happen between now and camp. Harris may be a FA. Cato may look great, good or really bad that would impact an exteansion. Marsh should be kept. He's by far the best short yardage QB other than Lefevour who may never be the same.

Lots of ball to play till they need to make decisions. Crompton would not be plan A, B just C

You get rid of both Crompton and Marsh, but one at a time, Crompton first.

We are only kidding ourselves if we think they are championship caliber QBs.

But I guess thats the easy part. The more difficult part is finding the championship caliber QB. Cato, we have alot riding on you, dont let us down!

Was Crompton obviously injured during the last game? Did he take a hard hit in the first half? Shoulder injuries usually come from defensive hits - unless your name is Johnny Manziel and you throw with an odd motion.

You didn't see the game ?

He got plastered causing the second interception.

Football on Sunday! What an absurd concept you Canadians have!

We would never condone playing football on a holy day - unless, of course, those money-hungry NFL teams are out and about. Yeah, we have wall-to-wall football on Sunday TV.

Seriously, I thought the game was on Saturday and I traveled that day to a Marshall game. Then on Monday Night Football I watched Mr. Rodger’s Neighborhood and what a beautiful day it was!

Go Herd!, Go Pack! And Go Als! - on Thursday.

Harris as a FA will not happen as my Argos will sign him and will let Ray go as he is a FA.

Excellent!

Gales too is very promising... They can't keep them all. QB's will look for an opportunity to start and the SMS makes it impossible to commit to more than one. I think if Cato commits to applying himself to do the things he needs to do to lead, learn he will earn the respect required to lead a football team. He's 23 and was not prepared for this. He's worth the investment and the team knows their best chance for success is to assist him in becoming that. I'm convinced Jim understands that and relishes the challenge. His chances at an NFL job took major hits because of the failed experiment with Johnson and in particular Sam. Those decisions will cause NFL owners to question his evaluation abilities and his leadership qualities.

If there is an interest in Mitchell Gale, he is a free agent, not presently listed on the Argos roster. His record in his three years in the CFL is nothing to write home about.

As for Cato, I watched him lead a team for a full three seasons, I watched him successfully read the defense, check off to alternate plays based upon the defense presented. The departed Als coaches allowed no check-offs after offering up calls only seconds before the 20 second clock expired. I think that the coaching sucked because Cato remains a talented QB.

What is in question with Cato has nothing to do with his on field performance. It has to do with what he does with his time off the field. What time he comes in the morning. how much time he spends in spare time working with his receivers. How he interacts socially with his teammates off the field. Coaching instability does not help but when his teammates, one in particular that shows up at the office every morning between 6 and 7 am to work with his coach and watch film says Cato needs to work harder, that is not a coaching issue.

We all know he has the talent but that's not enough to be a successful starting QB in pro football.

That's correct LeStaf. He has a great opportunity over the next four to six weeks to prove he wants and can be "The man". Als already know he's got a unique talent. Now he needs to prove he is willing to do what it takes to be the leader of this team long term or if he wants to be a journeyman QB like so many other in this league have before him.
