John Chick is coming back to the CFL and it looks liek his agent Gil Scott is giving SASK first chance for an offer..
he will likley cost about 200 K range ...2 other CFL teams have been in contact with Gil Scott in the last 24 hours .
My guess it is the Ticats and Argos ..If the cats had 150 K plus to spend on Chris Williams then they might have it for Chick ..combined with the Matel Mallet being let go
There are two other CFL teams interested in John Chick.
200K for a lineman is unheard of in the CFL.
that’s a lot of coin for someone who has been out of the CFL for 4 years, essentially bouncing between PR’s and IR lists in the NFL ever since.
that being said, Chick would be a major contributor on the Cats Dline, but not for 200K.
we could certainly use his services as an experienced rush end however…
SSK will panic and throw money at him to get deal done - it'll be insanely high and probably have to cut someone to fit it under cap.
Question is, besides namebrand recognition and nostalgia, what does Chick actually bring to SSK or any team now ?
Maybe. But Taman is basically saying today they cant fit his salary in. Blowing money on aging players like Simon, Foley, Anderson might be coming back to bite them here.
For the record... we can get ahead of ourselves all we want on our own board. If you didn't visit here then you wouldn't have to read about us "getting ahead of ourselves" in the first place. Very simple.
No, what Taman said was that they offered him a final offer and that the money is structured differently ( read that as weighed in year two and three). Comes down to how much confidence Chick has in his abilities and being in Saskatchewan.
What it comes down is Chick doesnt want to come back to Canada and play for free. He wants to max out and go to the team that comes closest to that. Doesnt sound like Taman is willing to do that because he's handcuffed.

rear loaded deals are risky propositions considering injury odds and the fact that standard contracts are not guaranteed.
Hamilton has a decent chance to land Chick as Austin has coached Chick previously, and both have the same agent in Gil Scott, who was coincidentally at the Cats TC today.
a formal offer may not have been made, although I’m fairly certain Austin and Scott spoke about more than just the weather and family pleasantries today.
We'll see. Scott knows the Tiger-Cats have a pot of money (The one they would have used up for Williams extension). In the end it still comes down to where Chick wants to be. He's not broke...
No, it still comes down to money. If Chick had his heart set on SSK he would have signed their weeks if not months ago. He didnt just suddenly become available today. He’s been an FA since March.
