Joe Sports passes away

Colin Smith known to the Calgary sports scene as Joe Sports passed away last night. He will be sadly missed by many of us sports fans. Colin Smith 1961-2007 great guy no longer has to suffer.

He fought a galiant effort, just wasnt meant to be.

RIP Colin.

Calgary sports fans will miss you Joe.

....FAN960 dedicated the drive home show to Joe, allowing calls and emails from people who had a story to relate about him....brought a tear to my eye....his dedication to the minor sports in town, high school and community, will be sorely missed....prayers to his wife and kids...miss ya Joe...

Don't take this as an insensitive joke, because it is from Joe's words himself that he sent to Global TV via email before he died. They read it on the air during his tribute, to show that he kept his sense of humour until the end.

Joe said that he blames the Calgary Stampeders and the Calgary Flames for not allowing him to return to work already. Apparently, they didn't want a cancer in the dressing room.

It's good he kept his spirits up during his battle.

I just saw this thread, this is the first I've heard of his death ... which is sad news to say the very least, he was a great guy in Calgary's media. I'll miss him.

Sorry to hear about Joe

On a semi-related matter ... is there news in Calgary about Jay Donald??
