I hope so. He’s a tremendous individual and player on and off the field and he has plenty of football left. I suspect the defense will have lots of major changes for next season. Cox is considering retirement, Brouillette has talked about it. Brown and Parker are coming on 35. Bear Woods will likely be release/traded if he’s not willing to take a pay cut. My guess is he is traded to the Riders. Another who I think is a free agent is Josh Bourke. If he chooses to move, there will be plenty of interest.
The positive is Montreal will have tons of cash. All of these guys in addition to Stamps, Lewis and others were making big coins.
Can you confirm to me/us, with proofs that John Bowman was making $225,000, as per his last contract? Replace the first 2 by a 1 and you will be closer to the reality.
On Monday, while cleaning his locker, he told Herb of the Gazette that he should be paid as one the best DE in the CFL. Herb wrote about a salary in the $150,000 range. Top $200,000.
I doubt that he will be paid more than $150,000. Since the Als have $$$ space on the 2015 cap, I expect that he will be offered a signing bonus varying between $15,000 and $25,000 in 2015 and a base salary around $140,000 for 2016.
John does live in Montreal and he won’t go and live elsewhere, unless the offer is roughly $50,000 more than the Als. All other teams have a salary cap and I doubt that any team can afford/will pay a 34 years old-next July- Int. DE. $200,000.
