heard that Lumsdem signed in Seatlle with the Hawks. Good Job Jesse!
Thats two Canadians for Seattle...They signed Jerome Pathon Earlier in the week.
I know nothing about the NFL, but doesn't Seattle have an uber-running back Alexander? Is this even a realistic signing? Again, my knowledge of NFL is zero, so help me out.
They did have Alexander, now if he's still there...I don't know . Starting I doubt it...Back up? Who Knows? At best, he'll probably be a backup for now.
I hope the kid does good, but it does bother me a little that folks are making it sound like Lumsden shouldn’t have to “settle” for the CFL. Good luck kid, but as a Canadian, there is no shame in staying here. I only wanted to play in Canada, until I discovered I absolutely stink at football! lol. But I am rooting for him.
Seattle made Shaun Alexander their franchise player this year, but it wasn't clear if they made that because they really wanted to keep him or just wanted to keep him around while they get a good trade for him (and thus, to avoid losing him for nothing).
I believe they'd want him to stay, but he's becoming too expensive for them.
I think Lumsden is practice-squad bound in Seatte. Maurice Morris would probably become #1 would Alexander leave.
Did Alexander not reject the franchise offer from Seattle? He really seems to be a me first kinda player? Last year he caused a big flap over the rushing title that he lost to Curtis Martin because of playing time.
I agree that Lumsden is headed for the practice roster in Seattle. That is not a knock on his talent, but rather a comment on the depth of talent on NFL rosters. I honestly believe that he will be up here in a year or two, if not this year. I may be wrong, guess we'll have to wait and see.
KK....Lumsden was a college runningback from Ontario (i think) who broke alot of records and is promising in the NFL.
With all the Amercian running backs available this year I believe Jesse will end up back in Canada come September. First off not being drafted hurts and signing as an after thought tells me he will be traing camp fodder period. Do not get me wrong I would like to see this kid do well but the competition especially this year in the NFl is very stiff 95 college running backs to choose from. Sorry a Canadian will not make it with this many Americans around.
Canadian ra ra aside ... Lets look at this realistically ...
Who was the last starting running back in the NFL that was white? (and don't say Alstott .. even tho he is listed as a RB somedays .. he's a FB through and through) .. Next thing you know we'll have starting black quartbacks tossing th ... oh .. EErrrrr.... wait a seco ...
heh. Just joking around - I wish him the best .. regardless of his decision ..

holy racist batman!
i would have to agree with StatiK76... there are no white RBs in the NFL... or CFL for that matter... i prefer black QBs to white ones, they seem faster and i can't stand slow QBs... and for the record I'm not recist... I hate everyone equaly
Didn't Gil Fenerty play 3 years or so for New Orleans?
Psstt … that was 15 years ago!

How the hell is this simple observation considered racist?! I fiind that all too often people are hyper sensitive regarding race/color/religeon … if there is no ill-intention behind the comment - there should be no harm done or any offense taken … I somehow doubt any colored member of the cfl.ca forum is offended by my observation that the black running backs of the NFL have clearly DOMINATED the position for as long as I can remember …
Oh … I’m such a horrible person … Oh my Oh my …
Grow up Eskimos32001 … I assure you, I take far more offense having the stigma of “racist” being flung at me … For such a general comment / observation to be tagged as racist is quite alarming … Especially - considering you don’t even know what my race/creed/color is … Your comment is an immature knee-jerk reaction that is programmed into moronic highschool students that are too stupid or ignorent to recognize and respect each others differences on their own … You need to use some goddamn forethought before flinging that term around … it carries a lot of weight in a lot of circles …
People just need to lighten up (no racist pun intended). Hah! * Ugh *

Very good Supertoe. And before that Craig James played for NE but other than that, I’m having trouble remembering another white starting RB.
32001, what are you talking about, “racist”? That’s the trouble with today’s youth. They label everyone a “racist” yet they support the most prolific racial propoganda in rap music.
I think there may a guy here or there that gets a couple reps, I know the Raiders were looking at a guy last season (name escapes me at the moment, but I will research and let you all know) but other than that I can't honesty think of any.
As far as the racism thing, I wasn't going to dignify it but it does deserve one comment. Let's try to keep this forumn to football, it's much more fun that way. Both of you are intelligent posters. 32001 I live and breath Esks as you do, but that response was questionable. Statik76 I understand your point of view as well, but don' t you think you made a mountain out of a molehill.
Looking forward to chatting CFL with the both of you.
Cheers
StatiK76, youn did make a racial comment whether you realize it or not, and intended it or not. You may not be a racist, but you there is no more reason to point out that a football player is blacki or white than there is to point out that he has red or black hair, is Republican or Democrat or is Christian or Jewish. I hope the forum does continue to address football issues and refrain from any references to politics, religion or race in future.
