James Rogers

Good priority to have if not for special teams return by Rogers there may not have been a win

Even during the Scott Squires era, ST was better (although not up to the Matthews era). From 2010 onwards, it’s been one poor season after another (although Rychleski had done some fairly decent work last year).

He did do a nice job as teams OC. It was his first season in the CFL but he has been a long time ST coach in the NCAA DI level, then NFL with the Colts, before landing in Montreal. Thought he should have been kept as teams coach but Higgins took that on again having the Als without a full time ST Coordinator.
He had the coverage teams playing much better than the previous season. He just did not have the good kicking game or returner. Whyte has turned it around and Rogers has quickly become the long awaited returner they have sought, at least so far.
With the shuffling of the coaching staff i am not sure if someone has taken the role as ST coach as a first priority

i agree now that the return teams players know that he can take one to the house at anytime will boost the moral and focus for a much better effort. A phase of the game that they have sorely been missing. Even when not scoring his returns have been big gains of field position.
