The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent import defensive back Stanford Samuels.

In 29 games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers over the last two seasons, Samuels posted 89 defensive tackles, one quarterback sack and two forced fumbles. He also has five interceptions for 61 yards and two fumble returns for 49 yards and a touchdown.

“Stanford Samuels is versatile, he can play the half and corner positions equally well and is the kind of player who will fit very well into our defence,? said Eskimos head coach and director of football operations Danny Maciocia.

Samuels played 47 games at Florida State and attended the Indianapolis Colt's training camp in 2004.
