MONEY It could Push TV Ratings & Money higher and we all know this will happen once every few years.
but when dose Image Hamilton up in the Standing with a west Team on heals with threat of dual Crossover.
RATINGS = Money .
This eliminated Western team that everyone's so concerned about will have come a fantastic 5th out of 5 teams. Probably 6th out 9 teams in the entire league.
This will not be a 10 or 11 win team as, much like in the East, this team will have been beaten up by all the other Western opponents.
There is a simple fact that I am trying to point out with all of this. Whoever gets eliminated from the West will have been eliminated cuz they suck. Period.
Perhaps their spot will have been replaced by an even suckier team. Oh, boo hoo! If you want to be champion, try winning more games first.
You’ve got it backwards. Money is the reason they won’t change it. It’s not about hardcore CFL fans, it’s about people who hold Grey Cup parties every year even though it’s the only game they’ll watch. If the CFL scares away the casual southern Ontario TV market by letting the West take away their Grey Cup berth, they risk losing viewership (i.e. money) in the long run, and might never recover that lost audience.
CFL has record Grey Cup ratings.
TSN and CFL have record TV deal.
New stadia have been built, new club revenues in sight.
New CBA in place.
It’s fun to speculate, but there is ZERO incentive for CFL owners to change a formula that seems to hold promise of really working for them in the first year of having each of this pillars in place.
If there is a fan revolt that changes this picture, we’ll see it materialize a year or more hence, when the East should have some competitive recovery from what has been a skewed situation so far this season.
