Is it just me or is Joe making excuses??

What do you think about this article in the spec? I think he's starting to get worried about his job.

That man should be damn worried about his job, he should take the fall for the offense's poor preformances so he can get the hell out of this city. He was the worst off-season move ever.

Excuses Excuses.. and he even has the nerve to call out one of his "star" players as the reason they are failing.

There is an underlying message that people aren't publicly saying.

Everything Joe says is true. Players are not doing their jobs. Only so much coaches can do.

EVERYBODY should be worried about their job , not just Joe.

Joe is the one who has been disecting every play in the film room, he should know what he's talking about. No one here has been going over game film, watching every receiver run their routes, watching the blocking break down, etc.

I like Joe Paopao as a person, but he has to go. The man has not had success anywhere he has coached. And this calling 5-yard patterns on second and 9 thing? Eerily familiar. The Renegades were doing the same thing last year when Paopao was their coach. Same hallmark, same bad strategy. I questioned his playcalling then and I do so again today. Fire Paopao and let Lancaster run that offense.

my thought behind the 5 yard routes is a problem with the recievers .
If week after week the 5 yard hooks are not working , then I'm sure Ronny would have stepped in.
I know he questioned the same problem in the paper yesterday but I think it is directed at the players.
IMHO.

joe said-"Sometimes it's physical, sometimes they jam us up, or they get off the line real quick and now we don't have time for the play to materialize," says offensive co-ordinator Joe Paopao. "Or guys are open and we can't hit them, or guys don't get open. It's a myriad of things, but they all add up." IF this is the coach talking what are the players going to do, there making it up between plays, maybe? OUT with pout pout

The players don't call the plays, nor do they make up their routes. Paopao is the main reason our offense is struggling. You've got a great WR in Flick who is rarely used, an absolute speedster in Ralph who is never thrown the ball going deep. I counted 5 times last game where Ralph was wide open deep and Maas through the ball to the sidelines. Maas is told who to throw to as he throws to his main receiver on the play. Paopao HAS to go before any strides are made with this team.

Re-read the article. Joe says nothing about specific players. It’s actually Milton and Lancaster who make mention of Maas, and in the latter case he’s not placing blame at all but merely quoting the facts about average completion yardage.

Milton also points out that the players must bear some responsibility. He is correct.

Excellent stuff by Steve Milton.
Sad. It appears as if the whole Tiger Cat operation will just continue to sit and wring their hands until they are finally eliminated from the playoffs with a couple of more losses.
C'mon team....make some changes, show some fight and hold up your heads until a new coach shows up.!!!!!!This present situation is pathetic.

As previously stated it is a lot of things, maybe one is that NONE of our plays have been completed to a man in full stride just those almost standing still. Just no way to get the big one when you have to try and out run someone who is at full speed when you are standing still.

I watched the Gades have the same problems when Paopao was their coach. They had a great wideout with speed to burn in Woodcock and they had him running those same dumb 5-yard patterns on second and long. The receivers aren't blameless -- they really need to step it up and get open more -- but my feeling is that the playcalling is what's ruining the TiCats offense. You've got Ralph and Flick, great speedy wideouts who can stretch a defense. You've got Vaughn and Cavil, two excellent possession receivers who can and will get you first downs when you need them. You have Ranek and Radlein, a great running tandem with grit and versatility. You have last year's West Division Outstanding Player Corey Holmes. And you can't move the chains, can't even play competitive football? Bah. That's coaching. Yes, Maas is struggling, but Paopao isn't even giving him a chance to overcome his struggles with his dubious playcalling.

Doesn't it strike anyone as odd that Paopao hasn't found a way to utilize a stud like Holmes in the TiCats offense? If my Alouettes had Corey Holmes, you better believe Matthews and Strasser would sit down with Calvillo to develop plays that would allow Holmes to break loose, which in turn would open up other receivers and running backs as defences start to worry about the big-play threat Holmes represents. Yet all Hamilton's done is put Holmes on kick-return duty. What a waste of an elite player. Again, this is a coaching problem.

paopao is right. there is only so much a coach can do... and in his case that is very very little which is why he hasn't been successful for the last decade. although he does still manage to bring his check to the bank.. oh wait, that is probably direct deposit.
