Andrew Harris will officially close his history-making football career later this month by scribbling his signature on a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
I learned of this earlier today on You tube. The video was very enlightening in several ways. Andrew Harris was a major factor in my choosing The Blue Bombers as “my” team, and I can’t wait to see the video. Congratulations Andrew, and thank you!
One of the greatest players in the history of the franchise. Along with Stanley Bryant & Maurice Leggett, #33 carried this team back to respectability after a decades-long slumber of apathy & perennial loser-dom. To me, he’s at the very least one of the 15 greatest players to ever wear a Bomber uniform.
Good on him to say he now understands why the Bombers didn’t re-sign him and says he would have done the same thing.
The article also mentions that he has settled in London, Ont and works full time outside of football. I remember hearing he would be coaching a team in BC this year but I guess that has changed.
Congratulations Andrew on your CFL retirement… Thank you for remembering Winnipeg at the end of your outstanding career. Winnipeg does and will always remember what you did for our football team. Much love and respect.
This is the video I watched on You Tube today, but there was a reference to something else in production to be shown at the retirement ceremony, but will be released to a wider audience later.
One of the best! Thanks so much Andrew. I was fortunate to be living on Vancouver Island when he played there. CHECK News in Victoria did a wonderful job of covering the island football league so even back then we were in awe of Harris. A big thanks to Wally Bono’s son who I believe first told his father about him. HOF for sure.
