Gun control does absolutely nothing criminals will get guns and use them while regular people should have the right to defend themselves. You stated it is BS and you want gun control lol.
You are correct that criminals will get guns ... the missing link IMO has always been SEVERE penalties (mandatory jail term, escalating term for repeat offences) simply for possession of an illegal gun.

I would prefer complete gun control in a perfect world. In the meantime, in this case, I support the actions of self defense. Not intending to discuss gun control but just mentioned it in passing. Arresting this guy is my beef
Same thing happened in New York. A 70 year old working at a bodega was beaten and was about to be killed before he shot and killed his assailant. He was also charged with murder.

That was crazy - I think he got off when the public outcry was off the charts. You get to places like Texas and it is a different story.
A guy with a toy gun went in and robbed a Mexican food joint and on his way out one of the customers pulled out his gun and unloaded into would be robber. He even put one into the dude's head like he was in walking dead. I don't think that guy got charged. After he was done shooting the would be robber, he got all the wallets and money the would be robber stole and gave them back to their owners.

doesnt matter the background. He is not arrested for who he is or what other crimes he may have committed. In this case, he is arrested for defending himself in his own home. Background is irrelevant

The reason is simple down in the USA the 2nd amendment protects a person when they need to protect themselves and property. And in good old Canada yu are plain guilty. A drug store owner was robbed beaten in the store. The culprit ran out the store and the store owner got his rifle shot and killed the guy. The store owner went through months in a trial and finally a jury aquitted him. This cost the store owner his store in legal fees. Not fair at all. But this is Canada.

My last dog ( who unfortunately died recently of old age) was 6'5 on his hind legs, outweighed my wife, and would die to protect his family. Here's a photo of his foot next to my foot....
I didn’t need no stinkin' gun. But I will say this... anyone who defends a home or family from an intruder should be allowed to legally use the same amount of force, up to and including lethal levels, as the intruder is threatening to use. If a guy comes in with a gun, he should be prepared to face the same type of weapon that he is willing to use.

Any Canadian with a P.A.L (or equivalent in other provinces) was instructed during their training course that using a firearm against a human being (even in clear cut self defence) is illegal. You will be charged and almost certainly never be able to own firearms again.
Owning firearms is a right in the USA and the primary function is to protect your property and defend yourself. It is a privilege in Canada, not a right and the ONLY functions (outside of law enforcement) are sport-shooting targets and hunting. Any legal firearm holder in Canada knows this. Not saying I agree or disagree, but it's the way it is.
