If you Were Coach Stubler...

What would you say to Damon Allen, who expects to battle for a qb spot with the Argos? As a fan on D.A., I just can't forsee him beating out either Joseph or Bishop for #1 or #2 spots. Do you bring him to camp & allow him to take reps away from the young guys Pickett & McNeal, who really need to be on the field to adapt to the CFL game?

Initially my thinking was that either (a) he will retire or (b) the team will strongly suggest that he retire.

However, it might be that they are thinking of trading and/or releasing Bishop, in which case they would keep Joseph, Allen, and one of the young kids.

This from a recent Toronto Sun article:

But Michael Bishop remains somewhat bitter about the situation. "I have the confidence, but I don't know if the confidence within the organization is with me," Bishop said yesterday. "The way things unfolded was kind of shocking to me, because I had no idea what was going on.

That makes it look to me like Bishop is not exactly a happy camper, so he just might get shown the door after training camp if they can't swing a deal for him (and I can't imagine many teams being willing to give up anything useful for him).

Word of warning; I may be biased on this, I have never been a fan of Michael Bishop.

Hi MadJack

I think the Argos would be best to approach D.A. prior to camp & suggest he retire. It would not be a smart move to move Bishop in favour of Allen. Personally, if the Argos were thinking of moving Bishop, they would have kept Butler to back up K.J.

I agree Bishop is not happy with the situation. I would be concerned if he was.
