If the defense is out strength were screwed

He didn't miss 2, he missed 1. The first attempt was on a dead play...he half kicked it just to follow through because he was already in motion. I will reserve judgment until Dressler, who has held ALL of his kicks up to a few days ago, is back next week....but yes...pretty discouraging.

They have to ease up on this illegal contact rule...some of those calls were warranted but some were flat out ridiculous. It really takes the fun out of a game when we can't celebrate an awesome play because we have to wait two minutes to see what the flag is all about. Delayed celebration...woohoo...

With Dressler being expected to miss I have to believe Milo's been having enough practice with Bagg...who's not a rookie at it, but yea we'll give it a bit of time. He should've had enough of a read off the first "attempt" to get the second one right.

Oh you are just making excuses for him. His first attempt was a full follow through, as was his second. The holds were good as well. A good kicker just needs a good hold to make those. He got that.

He just chokes in high pressure situations. It’s been his MO his entire career.

It’s not like Bagg mishandled the snaps and threw his timing off so not buying its because of a different holder. I thought our punter also was a place kicker? If so I would get him working hard at field goals because Milo just looked plain bad. With Milo’a accuracy being a big question mark the Riders may have no choice but to go for two on every conversion try.

They have to frickin learn “DON’T TOUCH THEM AFTER 5 YARDS!!”…get with the program!!! I’m not a fan of the rule either, but work out your insecurities in preseason and figure it out.

Exactly, both holds were perfect. If it bugs Milo that much to have a different holder he has no place in pro football.

It is not making excuses, it is 100% fact that he pulled up a tiny bit on the first attempt…his exact words were “I saw the flag out of the corner of my eye, knew it was on them, and it hampered my swing and followthrpugh.” He should have made the second attampt, but like I said, I will reserve judgement until his regular holder is back or another week with Bagg.

Did Hall even play? Reason I ask is I don't recall his name mentioned other then at the start of the game as to being back with the Riders otherwise he was a ghost. Chick had a strong first quarter but then they started to double team him and there went our pass rush.

Our blitz's were pathetic and half hearted at best. On the one the safety tried coming all the way from his cover position and get in, by that time the ball was long gone and an easy catch over the middle where he vacated. Tbrack lined up about 5 yards off the line and comes flying in so fast the O line has no time to blink. Point is if your going to blitz then you bloody well better commit to it full tilt boogie, not this i think I am , no I'm not, oh heck maybe I will garbage.

Some day go to a practice and get a kicker’s or ST coach or holder’s opinion on that instead of a fan’s. They will disagree with you entirely. Stop in some time in Calgary and ask their kicker…best in the league…and he will also disagree with you. There are very specific mechanics to a hold that a kicker gets used to…more so than ANY other position. It may be a “perfect” hold…that means very little if the mechanics are off. It can be as simple as the way the holder rotates the ball onto the plate, how he spins the laces, if he does a straight push down or does a out through…just because it is “perfect” does not mean it is right for the kicker as to what they have been seeing on a normal basis.

Connop was a handicap in there at times. The OL payed little attention to him other than when they pushed him to the side for a run. He will need to learn fast

Buhahaha, You are so wrong there. Talked to him last year and that exact subject was brought up. To him, as long as the hold is good, no excuses.

In fact in the offseason he has many different holders to train with.

Oh I know kickers are a quirky set of cats and love to have everything just "perfect" for them but still It wasn't like Bagg bobbled the ball or do anything to throw his timing off. Yes ideally the holder and the kicker are the same game in and game out but to miss from straight out at 35 yards with no bad timing issues isn't going to cut it especially if your a vet and not a raw rookie.

Yup, especially since last year he had the same holder throughout the season until Dressler was back and absolutely nothing improved. He still was horrid. The holder excuse is very thin.

Really…want Milo to give you a call…because I talked to him today and that is not what was said. And I see Rene every time I am in Calgary, and have heard just the opposite the couple times we have actually talked football…which is not often

Of course Milo would sway things his way. It’s obvious that you are close with Milo, that would explain why you cannot see what others see in plain sight.

I am not close with Milo at all actually…I simply know him. I know Rene 10 fold Vetter though and he has never said anything like that around me. Closest he has said was something along the line of he can kick from any holder once he gets used to them…which is what I echoed

Time foe new kicker and time to teach the D hold to wrap up the opposition. macho embarrassed himself yesterday.

Personally...as I have stated before...I would keep both around for a bit...give Early a game or 2 to hone his punting skills to the CFL sized wide field....let him focus on that....then give him some FG attempts...see if it effect his punting...not everyone can successfully do both...kinda like is someone is playing a lot of baseball it often effects their golf swing. If he proves out...turf toe Milo...don't want to entirely get rid of him...insurance. I would see this as a 4 to 6 game process.

I’m not going to crucify him for 1 miss. For all we know he could hit the next 10 straight, but he does have a choke history. Also, he’s not the only kicker in the league who has had his holder and snapper change from time to time. Medlock for instance has not had any problems with different snappers and holders. Go to the TiCats forum where they talk about the multiple long snappers that they had last year. And Fantuz has done a lot of holding yet he’s always on and off the IL and holding has been no problem for Hamilton. I’m not saying that it’s not a factor, but there comes a point when you just gotta be a pro and put the damn pigskin between the posts.

If he’s 5/8 after week 4 send him and his poutine and new tattoos out of town and call Paul McCallum.
