If Ray is done, will Hamilton finish in 1st place?

Losing Ricky Ray is a huge loss for the Argos, but done the Argos are not. Sure Collaros is young, and one game isn't enough to judge a player, but really it's less about the Argos losing and more about us wining. We have a hard streak of games ahead of us, with BC, BC, Calgary, Montreal, Calgary. This is compared to the Argos who have to deal with Montreal, Montreal, Sask, Calgary, Edmonton. Then we meet our rivals for a home @home. Our schedule for the next while is harder then the Argos without question.

Lets be real here, Toronto I can see splitting the series with Montreal, and crushing Edmonton at the very least. If we don't take care of business for the next five games, it's not going to make a lick of difference. The real test of Austin's team starts now.

A good realistic appraisal.

Wow ! four wins against two teams that have a combined record of 2-14 and some are planning a parade

You gotta believe!

What a frigging schedule, I hope they don't do this next year. Their probably going to give us the first four game of the schedule against the Pegs. or maybe against the RedBlacks. :cowboy:

Although he is out, the Argo's are still a powerful team even though he was a main part of control in that offense. I think the cats will get a good advantage on them until he returns (if he returns). Since we've improved on our defense I think we'd be able to get far and won't have a game like last season where we got knocked out of a play-off chance.

If Ray is done then I do expect the odds of us winning the division is the same as the Argos or maybe even a bit better.

Yes we have won a few easy games but the fact is that we've won them. Momentum for the team is swinging in our favour at the moment. Winning builds winning and we've done what we had to do. The next 3 weeks are going to be key in seeing how everything shakes out. We have a real opportunity to get 6 or 8 points in our next 3 games and Toronto may only get 2 or 4 points in the next few weeks. So I expect we'll be in 1st place very shortly.

He doesn’t. Why do you say that?

Hey I wasn’t making excuses for winning. I was merely pointing out that my team has not beaten anyone of significance as yet. When they do (and I do believe they will) then I will be excited. To be excited for (potentially) sweeping Winnipeg and splitting with Edmonton is just not within me.

Hi Mike,
I hear what you are saying,
It is undeniable that the Peg is in total disarray,
We made them look pretty bad!
Edmonton is just plain snakebit right now,
Finding creative ways to lose, (sound Familiar?)
A losing streak, just like a winning streak can be contagious.
But the fact is our team is now way better than the team that started 1 and 4 and improving every game.
Does any one in Sask. think their record of 7 and 1 is blemished because they beat the Cats, Edm. and Mont.,
You can bet your watermelon they do not!

I have a feeling Ray won't be out for long. They don't play again for 11 days. He was throwing during half time but was told to shut it down for the night. He wasn't in an arm sling and isn't now. He may not miss any games.

But if he is out for any length of times, Collaros is good enough to be competitive and the D under Chris Jones will win some games. Plus they have injured guys returning in the next 2-3 games. It will be a great Fall of football between the Cats and the Argos. Minus Ray, it will go to the wire.

Yeah it depends on the league hes in I guess…

Gotta love the optimism AND the parade route.

I agree, Barney. I love what I see so far, but the toughest part of the schedule is yet to come.

Let’s get at least a few of those games under our belt before we start even talking about playoffs, let alone parade routes. After all, Leaf fans have been doing that for years and what has it done for them???

Ray gone six weeks, plus a little bit of an indicator of a game against a decent team on the road last night.

Any more,or different opinions now?

I still think the Argos finish in first even with Ray gone. Collaros is good enough to manage games, and that D will get on track eventually. The Argos, to my mind, are the only eastern team that can field competitive units in all three phases. Montreal is missing an offense. Hamilton is missing a defense. Winnipeg is missing everything, LOL. So really, Ray's injury shouldn't slow Toronto down that much.

We will know by next week. If Toronto wins their B2B against Montreal. They will be fine.

I’m not convinced if he is yet. Not enough games for me to form an opinion. Right now, Ithink he is a typical inexperienced CFL QB. I thought his one earlier game he played fairly well, but was pretty lucky, and the last was fairly mediocre.

Now as for the rest of the Argo team…

That’s true, the sample size is still very small. But my opinion is still that Collaros has what it takes to succeed in this league, particularly with Milanovich and Brady coaching him up. The upcoming game against Montreal will actually be a fairly good indicator of his progression and readiness. Montreal has a good defense, and moreover, their sideline-to-sideline pursuit is excellent by way of their linebackers. So it will be harder for him to make plays with his feet IMO. If he can read blitz effectively and utilize his RB in the screen game, he’ll be fine. If he can’t pick up blitz pressure, he won’t fare well even if Toronto wins the game…

Just food for thought here.....but the Cats since 1972...have finished first only 5 times in 40 years!!!
80,81,85,89,98.....yup!!! 5 Eastern Finals in Hamilton....kind of hard to believe when you consider for the majority of that time we have played in a 4 team division. The Cats won 4 of those games, the lone exception being 81 and went on to lose the Grey Cup in 80,85,89,98.So as you can see 1rst place finishes are indeed a rare occurrence in these parts. This season is setting up nicely for a 1rst place finish........and they've got a better than 50/50 shot to do accomplish this goal this season. They should, would, could end up there.....but with their track record over the last 40 years....don't bet any money on it.......just yet!!!!!!
