Just had to say how happy I am with Richie Hall and the Eskimos. Jesse looks great and Ray didn't even dress. I wish I could have seen the game live instead of video clips.
Long live Canadian Professional Football.
Did any body see any weak points in our team?
Fan from B.C.
only pre-season.
considering that Saskatchewan hardly played their starters and really wasn't too concerned about winning, it's really hard to give any indications.
but their running game was good and they had some good linebacking. their 3rd and 4th string QB's were pretty impressive and they had some pretty good receiving.
Firstly, don’t listen to any Rider fan reports you see that say that we played our starters all game and they played their 4th stringers or whatever. Zabransky and Ricard got the majority of the game(Maas had the 4th quarter), and Ray did not even dress. We split up our running game with about 5 carries each from Fason, Whitlock, McCarty, and Lumsden. 3/4 were very impressive, while McCarty wasn’t all that great. Our starting receivers caught about 4-5 passes in total in the first couple series, but the rest of the game only new recruits/backups played. To be honest all of the rookie receivers played so well that it will take at least another game before they differentiate themselves from each other. Hopefully we can keep one or two of them. On defence, Kit got a sack the first play of the game. Kit, Lloyd, Malveaux and Goss only got a bit of the first quarter. 3 INTs by our rookie DBs/LBs. D-line had pressure all night long, and Peach was impressive with a sack and forced fumble. Prefontaine did not play. Schiavone nailed a 40 something yarder, while Elaschuk made a few short field goals. Schiavone punted and had a few nice coffin corners to pin the Riders deep.
To be honest, I know it was pre-season and all, but the new recruits(as well as our vets) really impressed me and have me excited about this season. Could not really see any glaring weaknesses, except for a short drive by Durant where he threw a few consecutive short 5-10 yard lob completions over our d-line into the middle of the field. The Esks also used Jamaica Rector as a punt/kick returner all game and he did not impress in this role. He made some nice catches as a receiver though. You’ll notice that the Esks have not made any cuts since the game, and likely won’t until they are forced to. Everyone seemingly played quite well on an individual basis and no one has stuck out as needing to be cut thus far.
Whew, thought for a second that somebody was on here to say they 'luv' Bryan Hall. Guess it's something I'll have to get used to.
I thought the same thing…I keep forgetting about Ritchie Hall!
