I AM NOT SAYING LOOK OUT CFL!! BUT BEWARE!!

For all the Bomber haters, or wanna be fans who have knocked Kelly and his moves must look pretty dumb by now. Let's start with WEEK 1 in Edmonton, poor field conditions is not an excuse, but many mistakes were made by both team and we lost by 2 points, we showed flashes, Lefors looked like he had the opening jitters, Reid was solid and proved that he IS AN ELITE running back in the CFL. The defense was solid as heck considering Edmonton was picked to finish first or second in the West, and what can i say about the special teams, solid as well, they were ball hawks and got down field quickly and did a great job making there tackles, with the exception of the one long run back for a TD (i believe). Remember we played without two major starters in Brown and Tyrone Williams and the team WAS NOT distracted by the Armstrong incident.

POSITIVES FROM WEEK ONE - no interceptions, Reid proved that he is not just a flash in the pan, Lefors showed great mobility to scramble out of the pocket when under pressure and for those who are just looking at his completion percentage, remember he threw the ball away alot which is what a QB is taught to do, that saved us from interceptions and fumbles, smart plays. Also Simpson has not lost a step and Shabazz was amazing.
NEGATIVES FROM WEEK ONE - Lefors DOES have to go downfield more often, take the risk if he feels that it is safe to do so, his completion percentage will be low for a couple of games as the Offfense is still Gelling, holding Edmonton to 19 was a great step to begin the season, we came this close to tying the game with no time on the clock and it was a 42 yarder which Serna made after he was iced by Edmonton and Hall, too bad he missed the tying field goal from 47 yards, that is tough for any kicker to do. TOO MANY POOR PLAYS FOR THAT TYPE OF TURF.

WEEK 2 VS CGY - Still no Brown until next week, but Tyrone did play (as a rotation player - YES Armstrong pun was intended) that is a great teamate, we pretty much handled the Stamps with the exception of the final Quarter when we played more zone.
POSITIVES FROM WEEK 2 - Lefors looked more comfortable evrn though his completion percentage was not great, but he did throw for 2 TD'S, he will get better throughout the year, i think Lefors is a very good QB and has something we have been lacking for years, a QB that can scramble, roll out and take off if he needs to. Special Teams were solid as well once again, the defense played hard and did a great job once again, i believe that our Defense with Brown will only get better. We got 2 INT'S which was awesome, Charlton looked like his old self and had a great game and Shabazz was a warrior, Simpson Shabazz and Charlton were all over the ball. Fred Reid proved to us once again that last season was not a fluke, Giles played Awesome when he did play, great speed and great reads, if he can keep it up then releasing Joe Smith was a good move, Kudos to kelly for playing a simple game plan, nothing fancy.
NEGATIVES FROM WEEK 2 - Only two things caught my attention, Lefors completion percentage and Our Defense only has ONE sack in two games.

I would also like to mention that Kelly and his players were all talking and laughing through the whole game, he said he was going to field a team that will be competative and a team that will enjoy playing for the BB'S and having fun. Great way to loosen the team up.

The recieving group will still be great with Edwards, Bowman, Ralph, Franklin and so on ... If Franklin is going to be out for awhile from last nights injury, we should try Hargreaves again or another reciever on the Practice Roster.

CONGRATS TO OUR BLUE BOMBERS, THE TEAM AND MIKE KELLY FOR A GREAT GAME.

The team has looked good including the preseason, what you see is what you get.

I'm really liking the turnover ratio 8 - 2 or some such already.

Definitely room for improvement, which is just fine, considering we are only through 2 weeks.

Kelly may be a lot of things to a lot of people, but he knows what he wants from his team and I like it so far.

and theyre right back at practice today. props to kelly, he knows what he wants this team to be and he is going to push them to it!

lots of positives, still some concern areas (lefors completion %, kick return game, d-line pressure) but no team is perfect this early in the season

from pre season til now i give the bombers a lot of credit. many new players, new coaches and new systems and are already looking like things are starting gel

GO BLUE - lets hope the improvements continue it may be a tough east division this year!

I was one of the people who counted out Winnipeg. So far, from what I saw when they played in Montreal in Pre-Season, and how they played against Edmonton and Calgary, I take back my silly pre-mature opinions. Should make for an interesting East conference, so far, I though there'd be a couple of winless teams still at this point in the East.

Winnipeg played well against Calgary, but the Stamps imploded. If Calgary's receivers didn't suddenly forget how to catch, it would have been a much closer ballgame.

I'd be surprised if Winnipeg wins seven games this year. They certainly won't beat my Ticats.

Romby Bryant had more drops than the entire Stamps roster, and even then, Brett Ralph was the only one who forgot how to catch. Thelwell had a drop but he was easily Calgary's best receiver, I think you can forgive that one.

Most people would've been surprised if Hamilton won 4 games this year if it weren't for that game against BC. I'm not bashing them because I think Quinton Porter will be the third best QB in the league by the end of this season and I think Hamilton could very well go 8-10 if not better depending on how Porter plays. Just saying you'd best not be counting the Bombers out, because two games into the season the only things that appear to need work are the return game and a QB who's two starts into learning a supposedly very complex offense and if Kelly brings in a returner, I'd say both of those are very likely to improve significantly.

Porter 3rd best QB in the league thats the funniest thing i have heard all week  he;s decent but only a starter because they have nobody else, you better look at the list of QB's because the league has some good ones but he is not even close to #3 Bombers and Hamilton will both be bottom dwellers this year its just who will finish last between the two,

Bottom Dweller = 3 Grey Cups in SK history . Just in case you have forgotten who the ALLTIME bottom dwellers are !
Nice prediction on the WPG CGY game. Something about the game over at half time ???

nice!

Right now I’d rank him fourth behind Calvillo, Ray, Burris. He currently has a completion percentage of 70 percent, something phenomenal for a guy with six , seven games of CFL experience and has played far better than Burris in the first two weeks.

As far as where Porter will go. Sky is the limit. Great height and athletics, discipline, hard worker, humble. Of all the young guys in the league right now he would be the top QB prospect. Did I mention Durable ?

.......I'd say both LeFors and Porter have a lot of upside and a long way to go.....They both have a presence that good, eventually great qbs. possess....I particularly like Lefors scrappy in your-face type of play....Nobody is going to chap-shot this guy.... His play reminds me of a young Dave Dickenson...Porter on the other hand, has a lot of great qualities your looking for....firstly size....He has nfl written all over him ..IF he can take his game to the next level...They're only going to get better...one game at a time..... one game at a time..

I agree, they will still go through some rough patches but they will continue to grow and will have the chance of becoming solid starters in this league.

Both will be decent QB's but you cant make that judgement when they have only played two games so far as starters, between the 2 Porter looks most impressive, and your only as good as the players around you. Both these teams are going to have growing pains, when they have 9 games under there belt then you can make a better judgement on both these QB's it will be interesting to see who finishes last in the east this year it could be tight division much like how the west will be.

Do you watch him ever? He’s way more than a decent player who’s only starting because they have nobody else and I think anyone who’s ever watched him in any of his starts can tell you that. Also, I didn’t say he was the 3rd best QB in the league, I said by the end of the year I think he will be. The league has some good ones? Right now the league just has Ray, Calvillo, Burris, Joseph and a bunch of unproven young guys.

Well, Porter started six games last year and was very, very good on a team that had nothing around him, so what does that tell you? How about this? That was Week 15 last season. But sure… decent quarterbacks who are only starting because their team has nobody else at the position can go outplay Anthony Calvillo and lead a 3-15 team over an 11-7 one, happens all the time right?

porter has so much potential, i think he will have a huge game that will convince everyone thats on the fence about him very soon (just not vs the bombers sat hopefully  ) finally looks like he has a good team around him, cats could be right in the mix this year.

…we are 3 pt; under-dogs in the Sat. game…time to bring it…goBigBlue :rockin: :rockin: :rockin:

Leflores still the # 3 QB of the league   he better pick up his pace soon with a 44% pass rating that must be just behind Calvillo rating? 3 point under dogs thats it? I think they will be under dogs all season.

hey, if you say I said LeFors would be in the top 3 of CFL QBs this season another 15 times or so it might just come true! I said Porter would be and I stand by it. Nothing about LeFors, at least not as far as being in the league’s top QBs

Say again?

Porter wont be either sorry to burst your bubble
