How To Fix - Help - Improve The CFL

More $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Revenue sharing. Increase the salary cap.

How, through advertising.

The do it in Euro soccer and Euro hockey.

Splatter the CFL jerseys with advertising patches.

For sure it would raise the prestige of the CFL.

Make us look big time.

Besides, I think it would look cool.

I have no problem with an MLS type advertising patch on the front of the CFL jersey - instead of the number.

Advertising patches makes the CFL look big time. Hmmm, I won't even touch that statement. :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Well there is something that needs to be fixed, helped, and improved.

However, it is not the CFL.

Really, it is bad enough the field is littered .

Please no. That's probably the main thing I hate about soccer.

NO NO and NO.

No advertising on jerseys.

CFL gets $$$$$$$$$ from TSN and corporate sponsors.

We do not need the CFL looking cheap.

IT WILL NOT add pride or prestige. The exact opposite.

The players would be humiliated.

Could you imagine the Argos with a red NETFLIX ?

Or Stamps with a blue and yellow GOODYEAR taking up have the jersey ?

Bad idea, never happen.

That`s fair. Having said all that, we already have advertising on jerseys.

Classic thread.
A solution looking for a problem.

Maybe it would help first to define the problem. Then come up with solutions.

Kind of like asking how long is a piece of string?

And I think the advertising that's already there, which is discreet,
is enough! For example:

Personally I am tired of being manipulated with the advertising. I'm there to watch a football game, not attend an advertising convention.

It is enough for me to have to look at those folding boards along the sidelines. Yes, I understand that advertising is revenue generating but there comes a time when excess is not a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

I watch most if not all the games.

There is no way I could have told you what was one of those patches were that each teams wear.. I know advertisers say its subliminal...but.....

The only sponsor that sticks in my head is Nissan and BMO naming rights.

Guys, those little patches are not a big deal.

What SILVERTHORN is suggesting is plastering jerseys like Euro hockey.

Have you seen them ? You can not tell the color of a jersey for the ads.

Or Euro soccer. Corporation name spread all across the front.

If it meant saving the CFL from folding, it would be one thing.

This would just be an unneeded cash grab.

Next thing we would be removing logos from helmets and replacing them with WestJet.

No thanks.

Did you try to reply to this ?

This is my quote .

I have zero interest in watching something that is painted with advertisement in such a manner. If it ever came to that point I would not watch. Total turnoff. Big reason I could never watch Nascar

I did reply but it go lost or something.

I was suggesting it as extra revenue and use it to boost the salary cap through revenue sharing.

Just a thought.

My bad, B88

Beagle mentioned the sideline fold signs.

Those are above annoying. A real distraction when watching.

Not to mention a hazzard to player safety.

Even worse on jerseys.

Well the piece I have in front of me is 23 inches ......... Hope that helps

It’s business and business owners that advertise on these signs and without this sponsorship and advertising revenue - you would not have any football to watch on TV. You would then have to resort to complaining about the water bottle signage on the Gatorade bottles the kids are drinking from across the street while they play touch football at the park.

One cool idea is to incorporate company logos onto the back of player's helmets, airbrushed in to blend and transition into the current helmet colours.

Another idea is to sell the playoffs and Grey Cup as separate TV rights packages from the regular season.

Don’t you think companies would balk at having their logos altered?
Pretty hard and pointless to advertise if you’re intentionally sending a mixed message.

Now that you mention it, I'm going to go out there and set them straight. Kids are such capitalist sell outs these days!
