How do I block or ignore people so I don't have to read or see their posts?

go to your user preferences - click your avatar in top right of screen, then click the person icon and then preferences.
go to the "users" tab in your preferencre settings and there you will see where you can add users to ignore and mute lists. make sure to scroll down and save changes when you are finished.
there are two settings:

Ignored - this suppresses all posts, messages, notifications, and direct messages from these users.

Muted - suppresses all notifications, personal messages, and direct messages from these users.
thus, Ignored suppresses the same as Muted but also the user's posts. their posts will be hidden, but you will see a link with an option to see the ignored content.
also ignored / muted users won't know and there will be no indication that you have added them to those lists. let me know if you need any more help.

I have followed the instructions but I see only one option: muted
“Ignored” doesn’t appear as an option. What can I do?

I can’t see this in my settings. There are a few folks that I would like to ignore.
Follow these steps.
On the one with “account” on the far left, drag that row left until you see “users.” That’s what used to trip me up.

It seems okay now but says I can’t ignore certain users.
No you cannot block or ignore forum staff.
