I thought the Argos might have picked him up to back up Eiben and O'Shea for this year and kept Wagner around on the PR or I list. Hitchcock could still be valuable down the stretch and in the playoffs.
I think its too late for Edmonton to make it this year with Ricky Ray on the sidelines, but at least he's getting a chance to play a bit.
Does he have a remote chance at starting? If he doesn't pass his physical, how embarrassed will he be? Is it really worth the money to come back for 2-3 games?
I guarantee you it isn't about the money.
I’m really happy for Rob Hitchcock. I hope he knocks their socks off just like he would have had he been given the opportunity to continue to play here. I am still convinced that it was a huge mistake to let Mike and Rob go. With the way the team has played this year, they definitely would have helped us to win a few more games. Good on ya Rob, show em what you can do.
Congratulations, Hitch! You have joined the long list of jocks who invite every press camera on earth to their retirement party, shed a few tears ("make sure you get that on camera"), but then come back to play weeks later!
Oh, the ego of the washed up athlete.
I have mixed feelings about this. I'm really disappointed that Hitch didn't end his career as a Ti-Cat, but at the same time, I'm glad he gets to play again because he couldn't have been worse than some of the jokers on our defence this year.
You have NO idea what you’re talking about, do you?
Rob DIDN’T retire, he was released. There’s a HUGE difference. But why allow facts to get in the way, huh?
Oh, the ramblings of a guy spewing crap behind his cyber-facade.
Dear Reader,
The Edmonton Eskimos have signed retired CFL All-star Rob Hitchcock. Hitchcock believes he can compete, but Eskimo fans should not become too excited with this acquisition. Rob Hitchcock lost his intensity after suffering a broken arm in 2003. This second chance at football life may rekindle the fire he used to play with, but how long will it burn for?
The CFL's smartest fan,
Roger Connery
(for those of you who have read my original post...whoops)
obviously you're not as smart as you say.
And here I thought Sean Moore was the CFL’s smartest fan?
Smartest eh, he signed in Edmonton, you're a genius.
I thought Marty York was the smartest. When did this happen? Did I miss another memo?
Come on Mods, wake up… You just merged a post saying that Rob was picked up by Hamilton with a post that says he was picked up by Edmonton.
Congratulations, Hitch! You have joined the long list of jocks who invite every press camera on earth to their retirement party, shed a few tears ("make sure you get that on camera"), but then come back to play weeks later!Oh, the ego of the washed up athlete.
I’m rather sure that I’m not the only person who heard Hitchcock pretty clearly on his ‘retirement day’ at the stadium. In short, “Hamilton was wrong and I still want to play,” was the message.
I’m not surprised at all by anything except by how late this is.
I loved to watch Rob play...and I hope that he and Gass end up bloodied and broken on the field on November 3rd...he's no longer one of us, he's now one of them...and if we can wipe the field with his a**, I hope we do...nothing personal...it's football!
good luck Hitch show Taffe and staff that they erred in leting you go
In an interview on 630 Ched with Brian Hall, Hitch said he passed his physical in 5 minutes. That's the fastest physical I have ever heard of.
As far as him retiring, Hitch said during that interview that both he and Mike retired after Labour Day.
Maybe I'm wrong but I thought there was a rule against playing again in the same season you retired in. Or is that only on the same team?
Man, just when I thought the return of Flick would be the highlight game of the year for the "no better Ticat than a former Ticat" crowd, then this goes and happens.
It's something new every day - that's why I love this league.
Obviously burned some bridges here in Hamilton with his brutal half time speech. Doesn't make Edmonton better so who cares!
DUH YA ! he’ll make any team better.
Do me a favor Rob, when you come to Hamilton show the MANAGEMENT and some posters here why you should’ve stayed,
He’ll do it just like DJ did, OSKEE WEE WEE !
