Here is the story on Mike Miller:

Error in the opening paragraph:

The essence of what has become Mike Miller will begin to emerge more clearly in the days, weeks and months ahead — as the Alouettes’ offence begins starts taking shape and either soars or fails. And, perhaps, experiences a bit of both.

Impeccable coverage my a$$.

Interesting how public discontent results in an article the very next day…

I noticed that too. Embarrassing that fans have to get on his case in order for him to get off his behind and write one boring, generic profile piece on the new OC. Seriously, if you’re having trouble sleeping, read this paragraph:

Miller is reluctant to expose much of what form the offence will take. There will be new wrinkles, he said. Conversely, what isn’t broke won’t be tampered with. He believes he’s a teacher first, along with a motivator. Players will be held accountable. Above all, Miller wants a team that plays smart, fast and is physical.

Did anyone make it to the end without nodding off? How do you write a profile of the team’s new OC and not manage to get one good direct quote on the star quarterback? On the assistants he’s working with, including Doug Berry?

Not one football related question. Just a rehash of what he read on the articles we posted here. Its hopeless. The Piggyman has it right.

Yuuup. All filler, no killer. Anyone on this forum could have put that article together and probably pulled better quotes out of Miller too. As a journalist, your job is to find the story and provide the colour and depth to make that story come alive. Good journalists don’t settle for bland quotes and generalities. If you ask dumb, generic questions, your interviewee will give you dumb, generic answers. :thdn:

I’m thinking of putting something together.

You should. Shame Herb into stepping up his game.

The gazette put up a video of Herb's interview with Miller. Imagine being interviewed like that ? Holy Shiat If I'd been Miller I might have fallen asleep not to mention the Inquisition underlay that is very obvious.

Peut-être que la Gazette fait la vendetta pour son ami Larry?

Herb is Herb, don`t understand why he asked the age question when Marcus Brady last year was even younger than AC.

But I liked how Miller answered the questions.

And I will give props to the Gazette for doing a football video. I know Herb was not happy with having to do soccer.

I think the video is okay... Do the french papers do a good job of covering the Als? How about local french and english radio?

All terrible. If you take the entire Montreal media on an average week during the off season your lucky to get two morsels a week and nothing fancy.

Compare to a guy like Drew Edwards in Hamilton who is right on top of all the Cats stuff and providing timely updates on the team as well as asking good questions. What we have in Montreal as far as football coverage goes is nothing short of pathetic.

Hey all. Before posters bash all MTL media for a lack of Als coverage, I recommend paying attention to Moe Khan of TSN 690 radio. His articles on Gamepoints radio blog are insightful and interesting. Often, various players from the Alouettes join him on his weekly radio show “Midnight Snack?. Also, he gives updates and insights on Gamepoints with Matthew Ross twice weekly. Along with that he is involved with the TSN draft day coverage, combine, Grey Cup & University football.

Moe has managed to create a positive relationship with many players and CFL personnel. He has an inside track when covering the Als. Looking forward, he might be or already is the Drew Edwards of the Alouettes. I always wished we had a Rod Perderson type here in MTL but till then I'll take what I can get when it comes to Als coverage.

Oh yeah, two years ago Randy Tieman had Herb Z on for a segment and asked him “What does a football reporter do during the off season ?? Herbs response “As little as possible.? I couldn't help laughing but also realized I should look elsewhere for coverage.

We are a week away from things starting up again and I can't wait to take my usual seat at Percival Molson.

Cheers,
Le Chugg. :rockin:

I like Moe, he’s the real deal, has relationships with the guys and loves the game. I just have a hard time keeping up with his on air schedule. Moe if your reading, you got to keep us updated on your twitter feed and we’ll listen in.

Would be nice if Moe could do his show during the day, or early evening and or on weekends.

Herb just tweeted that he has a special guest on his morning show. No idea what that means (Soccer, Football or boxing....) show is one now tsn690.ca

Special guest is Anthony Calvillo !
